If you want to look at it technically, muslims are only allowed to eat meat that is halal. Your everyday McDonald's in the US or Canada will definitely not serve any halal meat. While hamburger is actually made of BEEF(not pork), it is not halal and is therefore haram. Eating any meat product at McDonald's in the western world is most likely haram.

However, I know that there are McDonald's all over the Middle East and South Asia offering all their flagship burgers with halal meat. So if you ever go to Pakistan, UAE, Lebanon, or Turkey, you'll most definitely find all kinds of halal McDonald's burgers. Hope this helps!

pls get this clear:

hamburger is not made of ham (pork), it's named after a town in Germany called Hamburg. Ever heard frankfurter? That also came from German town of Frankfurt!

hamburger is made of beef

If the hamburger is prepared according to Islamic halal requirement, then it is halal, otherwise, it is not. You have to consult your local Islamic center

But in most Islamic countries like Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, etc all McDonald's product are halal

If you're in doubt, refrain from eating it.

What so special about McD hamburger? It's just another unhealthy fast food

yes ,the meat is not halal.you also may want to consider they serve bacon on some items and i asked someone who works ther how they prepare the bacon and i was told they try and use a different grill for that but will use the same grill as the burgers if needed. Now you know they are not conciously thinking nor do they care about religious beliefs at the time of cooking, they just want a job done.I would be very careful about eating out anywhere. we have a few halal restruants near my home town and a halal grocery store that will deliver to us.And i realize the meat is more expensive not everyone can afford this, but feel free to ask questions if you feel the need to eat out.you know when in doubt do not do it

good question. my country (malaysia) has kfc's and mcd's everywhere and they have to follow the strict muslim regulation of halal and haram, so no ham or pork is served.
they have followed this rules for 30 years plus and the religious department of malaysia have done checks on them frequently so i guess its ok as long as they respect the believes of muslims (no pork).
by the way i am not a muslim.
