After coloring and swimming and brushing through tangled hair, do you really think it's possible to repair the damage? And what's a good product to repair the hair?

get a good cut and have plenty of conditioning treatments also use conditiner when you have washed your hair. and use a wide tooth comb to comb your wet hair, start at the bottom and work your way up to prevent breakage

trust me on this - I have looooong hair and have been there...done that. Go to a haqirdresser and get a couple of inches (or as much as you can) chopped off the bottom. The hair can't be repaired and any product that says it does is only masking the problem, not fixing it. Prevention is better than cure so make sure you have your hair trimmed regularly and that you comb the conditioner through your hair to ensure even distribution and it is also easier to detangle this way as well. Use an intensive conditioning treatment on your hair once a week - Dove do a nice one for coloured hair but Lush do a wonderful hair called Hsuan Wen Hua and can be seen and bought here http://www.lush.co.uk/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=20_22&products_id=178

Damaged hair is very difficult to 'repair'. Hair is just dead protein; it can't heal itself. Usually, the only way to get rid of damage is to cut it off.
For an improvement, there are a couple things you can do.
1. Protein--wheat protein, in the form of a hair mask or some other type of treatment, can sometime improve the texture of colored hair. For best results, leave on for 15-20 minutes.
2. Acidity---putting lemon juice or another mild acid in your hair helps to 'seal up' the cuticle, which can be popped open by coloring, chlorine, etc. This can also help color stay in the hair longer.

The argan oil hair mask from the brand Pro Naturals is pretty awesome. It's a big tub and you use it once or twice a week. Probably twice for your hair if it's that damaged. Or get anything from that hair care line, all of their stuff is made for dry, damaged hair. It all helps.
