It isn't about "being" but it is about "trying".

Trying to walk the path is a daily challenge. Some days you will stumble, but God knows when we are trying.

Ok, well there are some other peoples answers up there with the websites and things, but just remember this:
To be a real good child of God is to have a personal relationship with Christ.
Talk to him when ever you can.
Its not about just going to church and doing the same things every day.
Its about wanting to do good, its about wanting more from God.
Its wanting more of his love.
Its about dying to yourself.
Telling people how God has made a difference in your life, and how much you love him without being ashamed.

To be a good Christian is one of the hardest questions to answer because everyone has a different take on it. Is it good works? Is it following the Bible word for word? Is it both? What makes a Christian? Even those who knew Him couldn't answer it for themselves.

But what the others are asking is what is it to be a good Christian, your question is what does it mean to be a good "child of God".

Are these the same thing? The Jews say they are the Children of God, so do the Islamic people.

My answer is this....It all begins with you. What, in your heart, your deepest soul, do you you believe in...are you willing to die for it? Willing to suffer for it, willing to live this faith through your thoughts and words and actions?

It all boils down to who you are and what you are willing to open your heart to.

ammakkutty,
Jesus is central. But what I will tell you that maybe different compared to what others say is; Trust is faith. You put your body on the promises of God. You believe God more than the circumstance.

The others will expect a 'righteous' performance out of you. It's really about trusting Jesus. Not about how 'sinless' you can be.
Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

By having a personal relationship with our God who loves us. Reading your Bible and asking the holy spirit to help you to understand it. Praying daily and being in daily communication with God by praying. Helping others, loving others and by not being judgmental of others or ourselves (only God can judge anyone), no matter what the differences bertween you and that other person are. Have fun in God.

Being a Christian is not boring, it's not fake, it's genuine and it's love. It's about relationship and not about religion (well, at least not to me, but whatever floats someone elses boat) I don't put everything into traditions, but I put everything into God. Be Blessed!

Trust more in the fact that the blood atonement of Jesus justifies you and cleanses you from all sin. more than any thing you have done ever in life and continue to call upon the Lord and trust he will save you. And continue to strive for a Holy heart and mind so that the Holy Spirit will manifest in your actions and thoughts and when you allow the Holy Spirit to flow in your heart and mind your actions will follow suit and you will grow to be sin free. It is a process the seed of righteousness must grow in a willing heart so pray for a heart that will sustain God's righteouness to grow within. Trust in the blood atonement and recieve willingly recieve Love which is the Holy Spirit and deny any thought that is against Love. Love of God, Love of self, and Love of others in the image of God God bless ya!! Jesus saves!!!!

you can be a good SERVANT of God but not child, as God is the Sublime the Tremendous and the Eternal Absolute free from all that people ascribe as partners unto God. God is not the father or son of any one, nor is any one the father or son of God. God is the Eternal Absolute. To be a good servant of God follow Gods Commandments as all the prophets and messengers of God have been doing and as they all taught us to do. Jesus always said:

“Praise the Lord,
you servants of the Lord
Honour the Lord,
You descendants of Jacob
Worship the Lord
You people of Israel.”
(The Psalm 22:23)

These lines do witness that Jesus was accustomed to praise the Lord__ honour the Lord__ worship the Lord__ the Holy One, alone. So, his followers should also praise__ honour__ and worship the Lord__ the Holy One, alone. They should not praise, honour & worship Jesus, instead of the Lord.

Hence, those who are claiming themselves as the followers of Jesus__ they must follow the exemplary preaching of Jesus in letter and spirit. They should believe in One God as Jesus used to believe. They must positively declare that there is no God, no Saviour, no Protector, no Lord, no Almighty God but One, the Holy One.

Creatures of God are God’s Creatures they can never be considered as God or as the parts of God. Same is the case of Jesus who is a creature and, as such, can not be considered as God or a part of the Creator or the son of Creator.

Jesus is not a Saviour. He is not capable, even, to save himself from his enemies. How he can be considered “All-Able” to save everyone on the earth. It is the Lord alone__ Who is the All-Able to save every creature of the universe including the mankind__ as the Lord is already saving__ each of them__ without any desolation and defect.

According to Jesus, God, the Holy One; is the Saviour of the Whole mankind. God is capable (be God glorified as God is) to relive off every infliction. None of the human beings is saviour beside God. Jesus, himself is also, not a saviour at all. The people who have chosen him as their saviour__ they have denied the Holy One___ who alone is the saviour of Jesus and whole mankind and the act of choosing Jesus as saviour__ is equal to hate the Holy One___ as it is clearly written in the old Testament:-

“I am the Lord your God. Worship no God but Me. Do not make for yourself images of anything in heavens or on earth or in the water under the earth. Do not bow down to any idol or worship it. Because I am the Lord your God and I tolerate no rivals. I bring punishment on those who hate me, on their descendants, down to third and fourth generation.”
(Exodus 20:1-5)

Now, ponder over the point that whosoever says that Jesus is God___ Holy Spirit is God___ Mary is God; has he not made an idol beside the One God? While nothing is there in the earth and heavens which could be considered in terms of the One God.

Beware please! A father is a father__ a mother is a mother___ and a son is a son__ and they all are the creatures of God. They cannot be considered as God___ as god is their Creator__ and nothing is like the Lord.

True servants of the Lord should, therefore, never be named after their Prophets__ as Abrahamics (the followers of Abraham)__ Jacobeans (the followers of Jacob)___ Christians (the followers of Christ)___ or Muhammadans (the followers of Muhammad). They should be properly named as Muslims___ or the servants of the Lord___ as they have been named in the Bible as well as in Quran. The Bible contains the name of slave/servant while Quran contains the name of Muslim. The literal oneness of the name of slave/servant and Muslim___ does indicate the virtual oneness of belief. The belief of all the Prophets__ was one and the same__ and that was faith and trust in One Alone God.

Jesus was born after Adam, Noah, Abraham, Ismael, Isaac, Jacob, David, Solomon, Moses and the numerous other Prophets (peace & blessings of God be upon all of them). If he were the Son-God, then, all of the foregoing Prophets, must have been the believers of Trinity. But the case is not like that at all. None of them was the believer of Trinity, rather, none of them, had, even, heard about the name of Trinity, in their times. Hence, Trinity is nothing else but an invented and artificial concept which has no existence, even, during the time of Jesus. It is, therefore, a rootless concept from all accounts.

Psalm 119:9 says "How can a young man (here meaning both genders) keep his way pure? By keeping it according to thy word."
Also, you must not only have faith in God, but you must do works of goodness for God - both are essential for salvation.
