One of the things you might consider doing is clarifying what you mean as only as a friend . You can tell him that in order for you to like him in the way he wants you to you'll need to get to know him better and what better way to start but as friends!!! It opens the door to a possible relationship without making everything rushed into. Taking your time to know someone has alot of rewards. Good luck!!

It's hard to tell from your question: Do you actually like him romantically? I don't think you did anything wrong by saying no, but why not tell him the truth? "Actually, I do." It's not too late to do this. Say it lightly and with a smile on your face, and see what happens!
If you don't like him, then of course you did the right thing by being honest and kind.

Yeah, that was a pretty bad idea. I think next time you should tell him that you like him as more than a friend, and that you just said that cause you didn't know what to say.
Telling him that you only like him as a friend probably hurt him pretty bad. Its probably one of the worst things a guy can hear when he's trying to date somebody.

What's with the "do you like me?" and "I like you" stuff? Can't you guys express yourself with actions rather than words?
No you weren't wrong to say that to him, after all I think people look childish if they come out and say "I like you" like they are in 4th grade or something. Just start flirting with him now and see what he does.
Hu hu hu hu do you like me? I mean come on is it really that fun to take all the risk out of the man-woman dynamic?

yep...you should have told him the truth. that you do like because he probably likes you and now you hurt his feelings. And guys at that age have very sensitive egos. I would try to recsind and give a counter offer.

you are very much wrong..you know its not so easy telling somebody you like, of what he truly feel about you...it takes a lot of courage to do that...there's a saying that if you want to say something like "i love you" to someone special to you, you must tell it to him now,because tomorrow might be to late..:-[

girl,what are you doing..?! that guy asks you if you like him then you said no although you liked him a lot...that's a crazy one..maybe you'll just have to wait when he's going to ask you again..
