To savvy s: can you even tell me, in your own opinion, what the Holy Ghost is? Maybe its that little bit of common sense that keeps up from things like the Inquisition?

So many people think Faith is blind. It's not. It's only the beginning of finding out what God is to us. He expects us to USE the brains he created for us- by QUESTIONING why it is the way things ARE. If we never challenged a rule, or an idea, or a concept, or a belief- we'd never have gotten out of the Dark Ages! God didn't create us to be slaves to his Garden. He set it all in motion- & then challenged us to figure it all out- & how it might relate to HIM! He gave us the gift of Intelligence- for a REASON. HE can handle the questioning...-It's those with little Faith- who fearfully can not.

Discerning spiritual information comes by having the spirit of God in you. Your intelligence is influenced by your mind, will and emotions and are very deceitful. The enemy can influence our thoughts. Things of the spirit can only be discerened by the spirit. Gob Bless

Perhaps I read the question wrong the first time. It is intelligent to allow your spirit to discern spiritual things. To use you brain though to discern spiritual things will decieve you. You must discern things of the spirit by the spirit of God that is in you.

You are correct in your idea that faith and intellect go hand in hand. Anyone who chooses to look at the Bible can tell you that. Look at the greatest commandment, according to Jesus in Matthew 22:37: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind." Notice the inclusion of "mind" there. If Christians are to truly follow the Lord, they shouldn't not turn off their mind (nor their souls or hearts, for that matter). Otherwise, they are breaking the one commandment that Jesus especially brings to the forefront. And though some Christians have chosen the path of anti-intellectualism, that does not mean that all do. Nor does it mean that all Christians have.

You can ask anything you want, but if you use your intelligence, you wouldn't be a Christian. Keep on asking the controversial questions and you will see what I mean.

ask questions ask all you want, but my knowledge is not my own.... knowledge and descernment comes from..... the Lord and we are to seek it and ask the holy spirit to guide us thru what we need to know, as there is only one interpetation for the bible and that is the holy spirit doing the interpetation not mans ideas...

spiritual discerment, does not come from YOUR intelligence. It comes from the Holy Spirit.

That is what we are expected to do. God expects us to use free will and the same "wisdom" we used when we ate the apple.

God wants to see what we have learned.
