people always tell me these movies are funny...caddyshack,blues bros.,some like it hot-i didnt crack a smile once during any of those movies

because they are from a different era where they relied more on the "action humor" than the profanity. these days, if it isnt full of profanity at the precise moment, then doesnt appear funny to the younger generations. i do agree with you on the movie "some like it hot" tho.
but for caddyshack and blues brothers, they were front runers for their time, and.....sad top say, i never really found caddyshack all that funny, especialy blowing stuff up chasing a "puppet" gopher, but the blues brothers did have it moments.

I find some of them very funny!
Try looking at Charlie Chaplin's the Gold Rush, that's a silent comedy. First thing you'll notice is where EVERYONE else got their stuff from, although CHaplin says he stole it from a French Guy working in 1904.
