Does these superpower suspect everyone to be a terrorist?

I think that might be a reason why things are becoming difficult. US and UK governments can feel tension from different countries so they are expecting attacks for anyone now. They can't tell the difference between tourists and terrorists. But as far as I know you may have a chance as USA and UK take interviews so even if your application lacks something you can clear it face to face with the visa officers. Better be prepared with all your answers and documents.
For UK if you have someone there then ask them to send you an invitation letter. For USA, you need to have a good bank balance and job (letter from your boss) or something that they can be sure you would return to your country.

No, it's just that the UK is already bulging at the seams and I'm sure the USA has the same problem. These are popular places to be.
