King Saul's son was Jonathan and the friend he saved was David who killed Goliath. David would replace Saul as King.

Jonathon was King Saul's son. He was a good friend of David and warned David to stay away from Saul as Saul wanted to kill David.

Jonathon was killed in battle and when Saul found his dead body, Saul killed himself.

Jonathon was brave and knew God was with him would help him. However, the bible tells us that Jonathon went back to the palace whilst david went to live in the wilderness. Jon traded the comfort of the palace rather than the blessing of God.

Though Saul had numerous sons, I think you mean Jonathan who helped save David.
