note: nobody would answer my question in any other topic, and everyone is seriously opionated in this topic, so i put it here.

Just curious to see opinions:Over the next year or so there is a huge possibility that Castro will pass or be forced to give up his power. What do you think will happen to Cuba if/when this happens, will his children/supporters just take over? More importantly, what do you think will happen to the "revolution" that is taking place in Latin America today?

How will this affect the US and the immigrants that come from Cuba?

Chavez said he's dying. Castro wants to give Cuba to Venezulea. I don't know what their military is like but hey, we got Bush - the 21st Century Warmonger - he'll attack to free cuba without any other international force in a heartbeat.

Last I checked, most of Cuba was in Florida..... j/k

Seriously,

Castro's days are numbered. He is getting old and time catches up with everyone. As part of the agreeement as part of the Cuban Missle Crisis, it was stated that the United States would not interfere nor invade Cuba in return for the Soviet Missles being removed.
Well, the Cold War is over and Cuba no longer plays a strategic part of that global map so invasion is no longer an equating factor.
If anything, Cuba will be monitored for any Venezuelan activity and "Gitmo" will still remain.

Theory though: It is possible to maybe see another Cuban Missle Crisis...Here is the scenario:

Iran Develops Miitary Grade Nukes.
Iran Has medium Range Missles
Iran Brings Missles and Warheads to Venezuela
Venezuela to Cuba....

WHOLE NEW THREAT TO THE U.S.

Could happen....

Very good question, most of the possibles are about the same age as Castro. They also have been very jealous about sharing power. If another old geezer takes over how long will he live and are the Cubans willing to put up with the instability and uncertainty this would cause? Is there a successor being groomed as we speak? I would hope they can find another leader who will be as strong and as long lived as Castro. They are going to need one. I guess the only real answer is that we will just have to wait and see.

America will re-live another bay of pigs, but with a different ending. There is no way Cubans will allow another country to colonize it. The Cuban people have waited a long time for the chance to rid themselves of Communism and will not sit idly by as Chavez tries to claim that imprisoned island. America will have a new friend and ally in the good and deserving people of Cuba.

Cuba will become more like China. The communist party will stay in control but more free enterprise will be allowed. I feel this way as Raul Castro has been having the army run profit-making ventures for years.

You are right, we are opinionated enough to answer anything that isn't insulting.

I think Fidel won't be back. I think the transfer of power to Raul is shakey. I think the Communist party is ready to step in if there is unrest.

I have no idea if there is any popular impetus for any major change over there, any more.

It is their business. Chavez has been making eyes at Cuba. I think a closer relationship there would be unfortunate.
