If given the choice, my cat, TC, would rather rub up against either my feet or my fiance's, rather than let us pet him with our hands. This is the first cat I've ever had that is like this, so I have to ask, is this normal? Why does he do this?

he is marking your feet as "his" territory...when he rubs his face against you, he is leaving his scent....your cat loves you and your fiance...he is telling you so...

Both of mind do too. It may be because your feet are at his level. I know if I sit or lay on the floor, my cats rub against me more then ever before. It makes exercising interesting. Also some cats only like attention when they want it. They can control the snuggling of your feet.

Many cats do not like to be held. Cats will rub to show affection and mark territory. This is a sign of affection and not a fetish. I am sure in you absence it probably will rub on furniture. My cat will rub on a box. I don't see this as a fetish.

Cat's do things because it's pleasurable for them. But before you go about trying to change your cat's behavior, ask yourself if it's fair to your cat.

In order to encourage more 'cuddly' behavior and discourage 'weird' behavior on the part of your cat, you have to make it so whatever is 'weird' is unpleasant but not harmful to your cat. Conversely, you want to reinforce any cuddly and desirable behavior with praise and rewards that your cat likes....

If you want a more lap cat, try seating him or her in your lap with some treats and catnip but only when he or she is acting in a way that you desire. Your cat will then associate that behavior with more rewards and continue to do so. Then slowly 'ween' your cat off the rewards.

He likes to rub his face on your foot or anything he can find because cats have scent glands in the side of their face and when they rub their face on anything it leaves it on that object like when a dog pees on a tree. My kitty also used to like my feet too she would attack them or rub her face on them and now that she is older she just got over it. Good luck with your kitty.

he is putting his scent on you. He just prefers to have the choice to touch you instead of the other way around. It's normal as long as he is healthy. Like people, cats have unique personalities

Our cats do that too. Shoes are the best as far as they are concerned - lots of yummy outdoor fragrance to make their own, and they are so conveniently cat-height. This won't stop, either. My old Siamese did it until he died, aged 20...

Well, when he rubs against your (both of you) feet, he is in control. When you pet him with your hands, you are in control. I think you may guess which one he would prefer. It's sort of logical.

My cat does this too. He's probably rubbing you're feet to mark his territory.
**He also does it if you're feet smells bad, weird.**
