That is to say, the little one's fave of the list causes you (A) to have the song going through your head-even when the little one is asleep (B)cringe when you know you're going to read the.same.book.over.AGAIN. (C) want to throw a brick at the start up music of the show/beginning of the DVD.

Not all catagories will fit everyone I know. I am aware of and admire that some do not let their children watch tv, et al. I'm not looking for a way to cure said madness. I just know that I can't be the only one.
My personal nails on the proverbial chalkboard?
Certain Thomas the Train shows. The show/songs that make up Thomas, while cute, just stay there. "They're two, they're four, they're six, their eight"..arrgh! Get out of my head!
Chicken Little: yes the Disney movie, don't hate me. But my son is obsessed with Abby. I know this show like the back of my hand, the hand I twist nervously as I narrowly evade insanity at it's start-up.
& The Roly Poly Pudding-love the story but every night?

Again, this is not really a "serious" inquiry.
Just an attempt to relieve a bit of the madness that is raising a child.
Also, my son is three, going on 14.

Barney -- especially the Christmas movie from the early 90's -- it's enough to gag a maggot. Those obnoxious little kids -- yikes! almost as vomit inspiring as Barney himself! All that yippy skippy chachacha stuff --- yikes! When my kid went to 4k, she said her favorite tv shows were Barney & Married with Children (which is to say, that her mama did influence her with proper viewing -- double yikes!) I almost experienced the most major psychedelic yawn when I saw one of those barney brats showing up on some reality tv show, about stage moms and their actor children. The mom and the kid both needed to be locked in a cage with Barney -- only the Jurassic Park version!)
That was a decade and a half ago, but man, your ? took me right back there. These are the traumas a mother never forgets. It is the foundation for all the stories you will tell your children, of the sacrifices you made for them when they are choosing your nursing home! tee hee! FANTASTIC QUESTION!

With children ages 18, 16 and 11, I have gone through Barney, Lambchop, Blues Clues, Dora etc. Their movies were Little Mermaid and every single one after that. My younger brother loved Thomas the Tank Engine, Pee Wee Herman, Ernest, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Thundercats etc. I'm currently in hate with Sponge Bob and all Disney channel shows. I am a very good story teller, and so I do understand the frustration when you have to read the same thing over and over again with the same enthusiasm so you don't disappoint them....sigh. They particularly liked a book called Honey Bunny, Funny Bunny.

Does anyone remember "The Song That Doesn't End" by Lambchop and the gang? My older kids start singing that to me when they want a good laugh because I start twitching and run away.

Have fun, you've only just begun!

one day my children watched the movie Mary Poppins five times in a row. They started early in the am as soon as they got up and by the middle of the afternoon I had had enuf.... I stopped them from playing it a sixth time because I had had too much of the "I Love to Laugh" and all the other songs.

I like the movie just not over and over and over.

I think it is the repetition that kids love that gets on adult nerves.

the Wiggles is bad for me... "fruit salad ...yummy yummy"
and sometimes the other silly songs stick in my head when my grandbaby visits.

It isn't the song its the repetition repetition repetition repetition repetition that drives one loopy.

We finally got him onto other shows...however lately he has been obsessed with the Disney Pixar movie CARS..dont get me wrong I love the movie but it has got to the point where I know all the words and so does he!!

My little girl loves the backyardigians, it's not a horrible show but when she watches it everyday for hours on hours it gets little bad. She also likes Dora and Blues Clues but not as much as the backyardinagians

I hate sesame street. I know, I'm satan right? Elmo and Big Birds voices just go right through me. Big Bird whines all the time. Drives me crazy. My daughter went threw a stage where she watched the Wizard of Oz all the time. So I would ask her:
"What does the scarecrow want?" A brain she would say.
"What does the tin man want?" A heart.
"What does the lion want?" Courage.
"What does Dorothy want?" To go home.
"And what does Toto want?"
She would answer:
"For Dorothy to stop her crying."

Dora the Explorer- because I can't stand her annoying voice. It's too loud, and the same pitch the whole way through the show.
