yes god knows our hearts, but he also instructs us to obey the laws of the land. i would further add to that; that unless the law would cause you to sin.

Marrige is social commitment.
Its actually not an individiual matter but involving other party.
When it comes to trade we do contracts, written, even witnesses. We even gets record in accounts, make budgets
Even we ask for bill slip or recipts when we pay to counter:
So whenever two people involve in social contract, best is to maintain record, having proof, having mutually agreed terms and conditions and so on.
No need to tell, what record keeping makes a difference in and administration or in any organization.
Think about society, Wha Allah has to do with apaper.. Nothing
they Why
To maintain the record of yourself, your relation, your coimmitment, so that in any part of world, you be respected, to avoid to from the confusion, that you are committ3ed to someone on some mutually agree term. There days com[panies dont even offer a job with out proper paper work and its a matter of life.
Think what child will be? if a couple have no proof, no witness...
you have to live in a society, and to maintain social structure of hirarchy you require a marrige which is infornt oif people, having witnesses and mutually agreed paper.
Actualy in marrige its protection for women, Males usually want to runaway from responsibilities, they made women a public property, in eyes of God terminology sound Good but that may give an excuse to be together and apartwhen ever they wish. This marrige makes you loyal.
Remember marrige is something very beautiful, its not a SIN? so when its not a sin, why do you hide it? announce it celebrate it :)
and one more things, takes 1-2 hours of a marrige ceremony, or this "paper" thing, we can join for business meeting or a family dinner, cant we just join for a marrige? dont we have few hours?

The paper is for the government to keep track of you for tax and inheritance purposes. You don't need the paper to be married in God's eyes.

The paper is the government's way of taxing you and for you to receive benefits from organizations which give benefits for marriage.
If you're after benefits, maybe the judge is worth your time. Marriage on a spiritual and emotional level usually calls for clergyman, such as a reverend.

A marriage is made before God and must be legally recognized.
A judge? Get married by a minister, who can do a Christian wedding, and invite God into your joined lives.
It sounds like you may be rushing things - it is a lifelong commitment and should be done with proper time and care.

It's really just legal issue. Like if one of you should go into comma or something then a spouse will have legal power to make some decisions. There are many other legal issues as well.
So, theres good reason for getting legally married.

A marriage is vow before God with the world as your witness. A piece of paper confirms it and is simply proper and wise.

Of course you can be married without a piece of paper in God's eyes....but then you don't get to be on your husband's health insurance policy.

My husband and I knew we were married to each other before we madeit legally official. We had exchanged rings and given each other our vows of faithfulness. We also had sex. I felt we were okay with it because I asked God to see us as married in His eyes. I don't know if that was right or wrong, I just know that many years later, we're still married and I don't feel that we did wrong.
