So many people say "I just listen to the music/beat." But when the music is played, they can sing the song word for word. I know from experience that when you're around something like swearing, it's very easy to pick up--so that's one sin that could be picked up. And love songs will make a single person feel lonely, which will lead to lust, which the Bible calls adultery at heart. Sin #2. Then, if they're asked by people from their church if they listen to it, at least half of them will lie--sin #3.

While I don't think a song could be responsible for something as drastic as a murder, it can lead to smaller sins. And since all sins are the same in the eyes of God, it's just as bad.

I grew up wrestling with this question. I'm a university trained, former professional musician (percussionist and vocalist). While in college, we tried to perform Stravinsky's Rite of Spring, and a number of the musicians refused to perform this work because it portrays a Russian pagan festival that culminates in a human sacrifice. Ultimately we couldn't perform the work, and I lost a wonderful opportunity to learn and grow as a musician.

I feel that music is like a knife. Knives can prepare food, carve sculptures, save lives...and can be used as weapons to kill and maim. Frank Zappa wrote some of the most beautiful, challenging music ever concieved, then on the same album would use music to cruelly make fun of people whom he didn't like.

Hope that helped...

It wasn't song even as Syko wrote the lyics; they were merely words on paper. Being a poet, and a straightforward hand at crafting an acrobatic word, i visit claim that all and distinctive lyrics or poems might want to be felt, and by no skill merely written. Yeah, i have written some stupid rhymes, yet that grow to be on purpose, or about a particular subject. Contrarily, i visit understand also the depths of the human psyche. Horrorcore has been round for extremely it sluggish in diverse varieties. No demise-metal bands i recognize of really bypass kill human beings. same ingredient with maximum gangsta rap; both are merely options to promote a CD or a product. i imagine this dude is merely twisted, and can want to were without or with the 'song'. Society merely ought to be able to indicate the finger at something, so that's what they have chosen.

Yep.

It can't CAUSE you to sin, because you have free will. Every sin is a choice that you make. But everything you fill your mind with has influence over your thoughts and emotions.

If you fill your skull with sinful crap, then that's probably what's gonna come back out.

You can also fill your skull with (gasp) Christian music full of love and goodness. Then THAT will tend to come back out.

Show me who your friends are (who/what you spend your time with) and I'll show you who you will tend to be.

Music was for a long time in the mid evil era considered forbidden magick. in those times they believed that it would brainwash those that hear it. Music indeed has an influence on behavior.
