oh my, that is a loaded question. I have so many GREAT memories. I think the best is every summer staying with them and working in the vegtable garden with them. It has a fig tree in it also, and when my grandfathr was plowing, my sister and I would climb into the tree and eat figs until we were just sick! Grandma had a clear umbrella, and when it would rain, she would let us go sit in the garden under the umbrella and watch the rain. It never failed, there was always a mud fight that ensued.
But I must add that now my grandparents are almost 100 and just last month they put their house on the market. Although the garden is no longer there, the fig tree is, and last month they tasted just as good as they did when I was a kid. Not that I am "old" now. I am only 37.

AH YES Grandmas' home.
Let me see, I think it was someones birthday.
Oh Yeah, it was grandmas birthday. I don't remember how old I was just a kid, maybe 12-13.
We were all around the biiiig table singing to her and having a great time. There were aunts, uncles, cousins, a whole bunch of us. I think that was special because it was the last time we were all together at one time. Some went off to service and couldn't make it home for holidays, one died in a car wreck and was always missed. A couple grew up and moved too far away to come every holiday. I remember the smell of the apple pie with Cinnamon, a big cake and of course the ice cream to put on your pie or cake. Even later when I would be at grandmas if there was the smell of apple pie with cinnamon, I would remember that day.
It was a hot summer day and later we all went out on the back porch where it was shaded by a huge old tree and ate ice cold watermelon and played horseshoes.
AH THE SWEET OLD DAYS OF INNOCENCE!

It was a two storey, 18th century farmhouse in southern Vermont. The house didn't have electricity, and all the lighting was by kerosene lamps. There was a huge fireplace in the main room, big enough for me to walk into, that had an iron hook that swung out for hanging a pot over the fire. (Although we cooked on a kerosene stove.) We would visit in the summer and go out in the woods and pick blueberries, most of which went directly into our mouths, and then come home and Grandma would make pies while Grandpa read the paper on the porch and smoked his pipe. This was back in the 60s.

I wish I had one. I know my grandparents loved me, but it wasn't until I got older that I had good memories of being at their homes. They were divorced, my grandmother had kids that were my age and younger. My grandfather was in construction, married a woman that was a school teacher and was very strict. After I got to be in my mid 20's is when I really started having a good relationship with them. They were fantastic people. They had to be.....look at their granddaughter LOL

Maternal grandparents: grammy's "green thumb", African violets and geraniums house plants and gorgeous peonies outside. Grampa's melancholy whistling when he sat and was thinking about his son son who died in WWII and I would quietly sit beside him and hold his hand. Paternal grandparents: Nana ' s kindness to all, never speaking bad of anyone. She set a great example in 'love thy neighbor" and "the Golden Rule" do unto others. Grampa was a chef and always had pies, cakes, cookies, or fudge for me whenever I visited. But mostly from each of them was the absolute unconditional love and support. I miss them all and wish I had shown more love and gratitude while they were living.

Swinging my cousins baseball bat in the spare room/office we were staying in and breaking the glass in a cabinet. When my grandparents came into the room, my cousin and I hopped into bed and pretended we were sleeping and had no idea how the cabinet became damaged. Duh.
