We are not taught as Peter was taught. churches today are a in and out thing. thats sad to say, but it's true.
Lets see how Peter was taught.........
Why We Hesitate To Trust
Luke 5:1-11
On the Sea of Galilee, the optimal time for fishing had passed hours earlier, so the fishermen cleaned their nets instead. But one lowered his into the water at the request of an itinerant preacher. The reward for Peter's trust was a net-breaking catch.
As believers, we want equal success in overcoming doubts so that we can courageously follow God. But sometimes we rely on our own faculties to decide whether or not we will trust Him. Perhaps what He is asking of us seems unreasonable. For instance, the principle of tithing goes against human wisdom: When we give God one-tenth of our income, He makes the remaining 90 percent spread farther than a hoarded 100 percent could.
In other situations, we hesitate to trust the Lord because our knowledge or experience contradicts His plan. All of Peter's expertise indicated that fishing at such an hour would be useless. Sometimes God challenges believers to act even when they do not understand how they can be successful.
Listening to others' opinions is another stumbling block to unswerving faith. There is a time for seeking godly counsel, but when the Lord makes His will clear, we are to act. We are not to pick up the phone to ask a few friends what they think. No opinion matters except that of Jehovah, who does not make mistakes in presenting His plan.

for the most part all people are good. As for religion being man made, sure it is, but for a very good reason, since man did not make you or I, nor did a big expolsion ever make a human with so sophistication. We worship a higher level of intelligence. Alot of different churches out there, i dont know alot about them, except the one I go to. I'm going to try and remain neutral as best i can, rather than put anyone down, since that is our nature as man.Think about it for a moment, that brothers and sisters in a same family, always want to be the one. The one that is the center of attention. So there is fighting amongst each other. Same as for the churches. Most have a God they worship and as things get further away from that central area, the truth as they all call it seems to vary. Same as all our opinions here in this forum. You all get different answers, even though we are talking about the same thing. You then of course choose the one that seems right to you. Alot of people are people pleasing to begin with, but i think for the most part, there has been a turning point, where some denominations are losing their power to convince people to join their group while the other groups are reeling them in. After all, being of good nature and loving thy neighbor, and doing things that dont belittle someone else is being Christ like, a Christian. I know thats only just a part of it, but thats my opinion, and im sticken to it.

No religion is the correct one, and all religions have got it wrong.
There are many major religions in the world, such as Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Judaism, and so on. Within each major religion there can also be many minor religions. For example, within Christianity there is Catholic, Protestant, Anglican and so on. Within Islam there is Shiite, Sunni etc.
In summary there are many hundreds of different religions in the world all with their devoted believers and followers. Talk to any devout religious person and they will almost emphatically insist that their religion is the right one, it’s fact, and any non-believer is doomed.
Commonsense and logic would suggest that if there was any truthful or factual basis to religion, then only one of these religions could be correct, not all of them. However, in my view, it’s highly unlikely that any of these man-made religions bear any resemblance to fact or the truth, and are more likely to be the result of simplistic human intelligence looking for an escape from reality.

What is Gods word? the Bible? The Bible was inspired by God, not written by God.
Inspired means to breath life into, the words are mens words.
If your talking about the ten commandments, they are good values to live your life by, and you don't need a Minister.

i am a christian and am upset with many of the churches, they have compromised greatly with what Gods word says we should be doing... they are worried to much about what people think instead of standing on the truth on many issues. there is no adding or taking away or twisting Gods word, it is what it is and and means what it says...and we all need to look in the mirror and see if we are doing our best( no one is perfect) to do what he says in the bible.

Yes I do. If Our Heavenly Father has led you to His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, then after you have made the choice and accepted Him He God the Father, will send the Comforter to you, Christ Jesus (Holy Spirit).
God has a plan for each of us. If He wants you to be somewhere its for His reason, His Will.
After Jesus was baptized by His cousin John in the Jordan Jesus was led by the Spirit of God into the desert for temptation. Let God lead you in this mixed up world age we now live in.
Where ever it is He leads you'll end up in the place He wants you to be. With Him.><>

I had a person ask me once what i was...and i responded i am freewill babtist... and he shook his head, i asked him why and he responded, do not put you faith in the name above any church house door... When someone asks you what you are, you tell them I am a Christian which means Christ in me... Denominations are here to stay, but the name above a church house door isn't what you should hold yourself to be......And i believe a church with all denominations is a church settled for what man is wanting to hear and not the truth......

The church originally did teach the Truth, but lost it many years ago. Since then, the world has been engulfed in darkness. All we have left now is worldly religions - man's interpretations of Truth.

Yes, it's largely people pleasing, ego stroking, rock band entertainment, ect. And preaching of the scriptures in a dull or dry way, much like the scribes and Pharisees who lacked the spirit.

I think that seeker sensitivity has been taken to extremes and that this is causing Christians to be unable in some circumstances to get deep messages.
