Be willing to help everyone out

Try not to annoy people with loud music

Have fun with different types of people... walk into people's rooms that you don't talk to often

Although you are 'on your own' you will rely on your friends a lot!

Get yourself a nice network of people you can call in case of a problem

Offer to spend time with people!

TRY NEW THINGS it's what living in a dorm and college (not in your case I know but w/e) is all about!

It might sound weird, but, if you're going to be sharing showers w/ a whole floor this is one thing you have to do: Bring and use flipflops in the shower. I didn't know this when I went away to college and moved into my dorm and I got a really bad case of athlete's foot. It's not just for athlete's, it's called that because more often then not they share showers, so they would get it more often that anyone else. If you choose to forgo the flip flops, then invest in some mdicated spray cause you'll be in pain soon.

Sit down with your dorm room mate(s) and set specific rules and limits. If you expect your stuff to be untouched and respected, then say so. If you have harmony in your dorm room, then it will be your oasis from the other wild and crazy and serious stuff that happens in college.

look out for your own interest without causing other people any harm

keep your underwear clean and dont lend them to or from others

don't leave valuables lying around, you cant blame anyone if they suddenly disappear

try to keep your music as quiet as possible, or use headphones.

Clean up after yourself. If you have a significant other you should notify your roomate when they'll be around.
