WHETHER THE PUPPY IS FREE OR NOT SHOULD BE THE LEAST OF YOUR CONCERNS. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO REMEMBER IS THAT A DOG CAN LIVE FROM 8-15 YEARS(APPROX.) DEPENDING ON THE BREED. A PUPPY IS LIKE A BABY AND NEEDS LOTS OF CARE. WHO WOULD TAKE CARE OF IT WHEN YOU ARE IN SCHOOL? ALSO WHO WILL PAY FOR FOOD, TOYS, VET CARE, ETC. IT ALL ADDS UP TO A LOT OF MONEY. DISCUSS ALL THESE THINGS WITH YOUR PARENTS AND TOGETHER YOU CAN DECIDE IF YOU ARE READY FOR THE RESPOSIBILITY.
GOOD LUCK!

um, No to the whole idea.
1. At 11 years old, do you have experience with dogs? Can you train it, or afford training classes?
2. There is no 'free puppy'. Our puppy cost about $700 AFTER we bought her, just on supplies, training, food, vet bills.
3. Never buy a puppy from a pet store.
4. Getting a shelter dog is the best choice, but you need to make sure your parents are willing to help financially with the vet bills and training. There are plenty of pomeranian and pom-mix dogs at shelters.
5. Keep in mind this dog will still be around when you are 22-25 years old. Are you still going to be willing to take care of it then?

First, is this ok with your parents, or are you trying to hide the puppy? Second please take into consideration that a puppy (dog) is a 10+ years commitment. Why don't you try taking a neighbor/friend/relatives dog for walks first (friendly dogs that don't bit of course). Now that we've got the lecturing out of the way and you and your parents decide your ready....I say adopt. There are so many good puppies and dogs that need loving homes. Also a lot of the store bought dogs are from puppy mills. These places can be cruel and the dogs the raise are often sickly. More info at links below.

It's not about your age hun, but about who you're living with and your finances. Your 11 which means you're probably living with a family. How do they feel about taking care of a dog? I'm not saying that you won't care for the dog, but while you're at school, someone will have to let the dog out especially if it's a puppy. Also, if you can only spend $50 - $200 on the puppy, you may not have the money to pay for the vet bills if there are any immediately which there might be if you get the dog from a pet store or for free from someone. You shouldn't think about getting a dog for any price until you're sure that you can afford to take care of it. Make sure you talk to your family about it too to make sure they can be there to help you out while you're busy with homework or at school.
Good Luck.

No I don't think your too young at all. But don't buy a dog. Get one from a shelter, You can save a dogs life that way. Watch out if your getting this "free" puppy, especially if it's over the internet. Let your parents know about who's giving you this puppy.

NEVER buy a puppy from a pet store. They come from places called "Puppy mills", which are awful awful places. Pet stores don't care about the dogs, they are just in it for the money!
ALWAYS go to an animal shelter! Those dogs need good homes and are grateful for people who save their lives!

I don't think it's a matter of you being too young... what do your parents think? If they are OK with it, and you are sure you are mature enough to take care of the puppy, go for it. Just make sure you read a lot about how to take care of puppies... they are a LOT of work! :)
BTW, please get it from the shelter or from a rescue place... there are SO many puppies dying who really need homes... check out petfinder.com, do a search for pomeranians in your city and you'll find rescue groups.
Here are some places I found in Ohio that rescue Poms:

Whatever you do, don't buy from a pet store (unless it's a place that adopts them out, like Petco/Petsmart). Pet stores buy puppies from places that make the dogs breed over and over, without food or rest, until they are "used up" and then they get rid of them... really cruel. They're called Puppy Mills.

Your old enough, if you can take good care of a dog. Get a dog, that you can see at an Animal Shelter, & they can even let you know, what type of dog would be best for you. They can match the dog to what your personality.Dogs that don't find a home, they have to put them to sleep forever, so if I was you, get one from the Animal Shelter ok? Good Luck to you!

Anyone who has any common sense would not sell or give you a puppy. Talk to your parents about getting a dog for you, or letting you save the money to ADOPT one.
Any pet is a lot of responsibility. Talk to your parents first and get their permission. Keep in mind, you are a minor, and still live in their house (I know, you didn't want to hear that), but do the responsible thing, and get your parents approval first.

pomeranians range in price from 500 -1500 dollars and they live a long long time smaller dogsexpecially around younger children can get hurt easily vet bills and surgery can cost more that the dog itself i suggest waiting until your old enough to think about those extra costs. And also you have to spen more money for a good quality dog
