I suppose it depends on what your tattoo represents. If it is designed to defile God, then that is a reflection of your heart and your rebellion seperates you. If it's just for fun, the bible doesn't really address this directly, if your trying to create a feeling of lust in others then you've got some issues to address. Like I said, God looks on the heart, you have to ask yourself why am I doing this?

You know in the Bible it does say not to get a tattoo because back then a tattoo held a person's beliefs and so on. I have a set of 3 tattoo's and they are significant to me. Plus I believe tattoo's hold a lot of energy so you should be very careful about what you put on your body.

A sin?
I can't imagine how getting a tattoo would be a sin.
It would be a shame to deface a nice clean body with permanent ink, but that's just my personal beauty preference. Lots of people get tattoos, and some of them look really nice, but I squirm just thinking about it, afraid of how it would look when I get all wrinkled and old, wondering if I'm going to want to get painful laser treatments to remove it later, etc.
But a SIN??? You gotta be kidding!

Sins are nothing more than what your conscience feels. Do you feel it is a sin?
Christians may tell you the OT will tell you what God feels about tattoos. Well, the OT also tells us to kill Canaanites, offer animal sacrifices, destroy houses will mildew in the grout, and eat strictly kosher.
Be good.

Well my ex priest said it was a sin, but then again he chained his son in the basement and didn't feed him because he thought that the kid was possessed. So you tell me what to think!
If it is a sin, sin than ask for forgiveness

i've heard you aren't supposed to mark your body because it is a temple and tattoos are the mark of the devil....but every temple, synagogue or church i've ever been in has artwork hung on the walls or in the stain-glass window. so to me i have every right and it is not a sin to place artwork on my body. so as soon as every place of worship takes down anything that can be construed as art because apparently art is a sign of the devil, then i will have all 5 of my tattoos lasered off. (one of which is a cross!)

I don't think this God you speak of cares if you put some print on your body.It isn't like you're cutting your wrists and if you know what you want then it can be very artful.I think if God is sitting around somewhere watching us he would appreciate our art.Even if it's body art.

No, he does not. If you already had one and then become a Christian, don't worry, you will have a perfect body when the Lord Jesus takes you home.
“Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD” (Leviticus 19:28).
