The belief you mention is about Adam eating the forbidden fruit of the "knowledge of good and evil." By doing so he brought death upon himself; he was cast out of the garden and no longer had access to the "tree of life." He is now in captivity in the land of the dead. The name "Adam" is a word that means "mankind." The story is relating that man brought death upon himself by his own deed. Therefore, we're not being punished for a sin of our fathers; rather we're still experiencing the result of our own misdeed since we're all a part of mankind. Just because you don't remember it doesn't mean you weren't there. You probably don't remember when you were 2 months old either.

Our sin of unbelief, which is the original and only sin. Unbelief is the original and only sin. In the garden of Eden the very first original sin was because Eve doubted the Word of God, and when Satan met Jesus an offspring of Eve, the woman's Seed, he used the same technique he did on Eve. And we realize that unbelief is the original sin. And really the only sin. The Scripture says, "He that believeth not is condemned already." And sin is unbelief. But Satan keeps bringing sin in. Every man was borned of sex, borned after sexual desire. That's where sin started, and that's the reason it's brought up every time, because it is the very beginning of sin.

Well I know that the many devouts you are referring to are Christains but coming from a Jew they might have a point. Jews believe that every human is a part of Adam's soul, or something like that. I am not really sure of all the specifics.

we have not inhereted the sin. we are still paying for the sin. every baby/child is sinless until they are old enough to understand the concept of sin and god. when we are able to know good/evil right/wrong then we are held accountable for our sins. god's punishent that we still endure however, is women baring children, men having to work in the field laboring for food, and men were from then on to be ahead of women since eve convinced adam to eat the fruit. these things were not god's original plan for us until after the first sin. all of these answers are in genesis.

No, the original sin was as follows: Adam high-jacked the Noah's Ark and flew it into Solomon's Temple.

the concept of original sin started with christianity
the hebrews who invented the bible had no concept of original sin, and jewish people today still do not belive in original sin (everybody is born with a clean slate), so obviously it is not a biblical concept but a man-made concept

Homo sapiens apparently did exist as well as other sub species of homo sapiens. The Genesis story pretty well parallels evolution theory. The time span does not, unless you consider that God’s “time” is not the same as we know it. His “days” should be considered as time periods (for lack of another description).
Thus God created this planet and its species, including homo sapiens, over 5 time periods. All “creatures” were created “AFTER ITS KIND” and able to “multiply” (procreate).
Then in the sixth time period Adam was created “AFTER OUR IMAGE”! Adam was created by himself. He was given “God’s spirit”. Gen. 2:7-9, 16&17. HE was created to live indefinitely within his special environment. That’s why it was fatal for him to eat from the “tree of knowledge of good and evil”. Gen. 2:17.
Eve was an afterthought so he would not be all by himself. Gen. 2:21,22
Meant to live indefinitely Adam and Eve did NOT NEED to procreate! They had no sense or ambition of sexuality. Gen. 2:25. They were not ashamed – innocent.
God gave them the power of choice, to obey his instructions or not.
After eating the forbidden fruit – also known as the “original sin” - they were sexually “activated” (Gen. 3:7-11 & 16) (they were ashamed!) and God had to change His plans for them. So Adam and Eve were expelled from the Garden of Eden in order to KEEP THEM AWAY from the “tree of live” which could have sustained their life (and that of now possible offsprings) indefinitely - Gen. 3:22-24.
They were now condemned to live their life in the outside world and procreate like the “creatures” (Neanderthals & Co.) created before them. (Gen. 3:16) They now also were destined to die like them.
If all the future was fixed (and God would know all in advance) He would not have given us a choice. In that case we could not be blamed for anything. It’s all fixed.
Of course THAT wouldn’t make any sense. We have ethics and morals and laws, all of which indicate our free will to do good or evil.
As to whether Neanderthals could go to heaven (or hell) I suppose it would depend on whether they were able to do the “will of my Father who is in Heaven”. – Matt. 7:21.
What is the will of His Father? Love God… and love your neighbour! Matt. 22:36-40; Lev. 19:18; Deut. 6:5.

It's not fruit but knowledge man sort. Once he thought for himself he could never live in a utopia again. Mainly because he could see the flaws in a Utopian society.
