I don't understand why people think a hamburger is so unhealthy, when actually its not. The bun is like eating a piece of bread, the lettuce, the tomatoes, the pickles, the onions.. those are all vegetables. The mustard and the ketchup aren't the best thing, but their not unhealthy. If you grill a beef patty, the grease/fat drains then drips down from the grill, so the meat insn't bad for you etiher. So, what is so bad about eating a hamburger?

its unhealthy because burger meat is usually made of beef that contains a significant amount of fat...the fat keeps the meat juicy and helps to hold it together while its cooking....you can replace it with leaner meat but its just not the same.

A hamburger the way you portrayed it its fine. Now, hamburgers with 3 patties, bacon, extra cheese, mayo, etc have a v. high percentage of fats, saturated fat cuz they are mainly animal fats. Now that's not v. good 4 ya. It's OK to b a piggy and treat yourself to 1 or 2 or those a month though.

What is considered by many as not so good about hamburger is perhaps the fact that fastfood burgers are offered with giant servings of french fries and Coke or a similar junk drink. Mayonnaise, and cheese on top of the burger also add unwanted fat, sodium and cholesterol.

I don't think that a hamburger is that bad for you but people take it to the farthest limits. If the beef is low in fat, and only one is eaten, it can't be bad. It's eating double, triple, cheese, bacon, fried onions, and so on. I make mine with lean hamburger whole wheat buns and the freshest ingredients. I eliminate the fries and soda, at first my kids didn't like it but they got used to it.

The cholesterol that's said to be in red meat. You won't die from the occasional hamburger though. The reason red meat (and beer for that matter) are deemed "unhealthy" is because many people tend to overdo it. Moderation is the key in everything enjoyable.

Squeeze all of the oil and grease out of a hamburger patty.
Refridgerate what came out of the hamburger patty when you squeezed it.
You will see what is so unhealthy.

Seriously, do it.

There is nothing wrong with good quality lean hamburger. A brand I like is "Lauras", available in supermarkets. It's good, red, lean, quality, grass-fed, low-fat American beef.

If you only eat 1 once a week, I dont think it can hurt you, but if you go nuts, and eat them all the time, then you'll be in trouble.

If you cook it that way,it's alright-it's the fast food ones that are not cooked healthily, are oversized and have mayonnaise and cheese on them that are unhealthy.
