Most purchase guides and answers are geared toward watching movies, while I will realistically want to purchase a TV fo watching TV. What are the bst choices? I plan on spending around $1200-$2000 and looking for a TV around $32 - $40 inches.

Thanks!

it depends on which signal u are watching. If u are watching tv programmes with Standard Definition and doesn't plan to watch any High Definition programmes in the near future, buy a plasma with a resolution of 854x480 as it is the optimal resolution for Standard Definition signals. If u are watch more High Definition tv programmes than Standard Definition, buy a plasma/lcd tv with a minimum resolution of 1024x720 or 1366x768. If u want totally future-proof your tv and aren't watching any Standard Definition programmes, buy a plasma/lcd with a resolution of 1920x1080 that supports 1080p. I personally recommend u to have a 40" Panasonic Plasma Tv. Its PV60 or PX600 series will be very good choices. If u don't like the design, u can look for Pioneer Plasma too, they are the best in the Plasma league. If u are those that demand high quality picture, never buy plasma brands other than Panasonic and Pioneer, and never buy lcd brands other than Panasonic, Sony, Toshiba[only their newest models are good] and Samsung[only their newest models are good].

It doesn't matter whether you watch TV or movies; both will look better on a good TV set. In the size range you mention, plasma covers the field, and LCD flat panels is now available in 40" size. However, the large LCDs are expensive. For 32" go LCD, for 40" go plasma.

an LCD flat panel, it is the brightest but plasma has better color.

The LCD is more available in the size you are looking for.
