For the most part no. There are plenty of hardcore Christian songs out there that take a stronger stance on Christ than that old timey music. I believe there are some that claim Christ that are out for themselves, but overall I don't think there is anything wrong with Christian rap or any other that proclaims Christ. I have seen people come to Christ from some of the heavier songs today.
If they have wild hair, so what, God looks at the heart. If they have loud guitars, so what God looks at the heart. I am not really sure what you mean by gyrating hips. I have heard this phrase used before by the older generation and they were referring to dancing but David danced before the Lord. He danced so wildly that all his clothes came off except his loincloth. and everyone basically flipped out. God was pleased though.

So true! Just like the new sound Richard Roberts is promoting. His daughter is in with the band. The music sounds satanic, you can't understand what is even being sung. That's if anybody wants to call it singing. I've heard Lindsey say that it is bringing in the kids. The kids have not went to far from what they were listening to. The only difference is they are suppose to be singing christian songs, but I can't understand them. The music takes over everything. It will also burst your eardrums.
I like listening to Michael Combs. Guy Penrod, Lynda Randle, etc. I just bought a download of T.D Jakes, The Storm Is Over Now. This is just a little upbeat, but sometimes this upbeat lifts my spirits high. I still love the old songs, nothing can replace them. If you ever get a chance listen to Lynda Randle's song, I'm Free. It is beautiful.
Going to check out your links. I know I will like them. God Bless!

I am uplifted by Contemporary Christian Music. I haven't seen any hips gyrating. If I did I would find that most unChristian-like behavior for a music video or on stage. The wild hair doesn't bother me and it may get our young people to listen to music they might otherwise shun. The loud guitars, I don't like, but I think our teens do. And it that's what it takes to get them interested in Christian music, I say more power to them! I like Point of Grace, Jars of Clay, and many more.

Saying they are influenced by Satan I think is a bit extreme but I will admit there are alot of so called "christian" bands out there that are hard to see the reflection of Christ through. I do think that many play music under the Christian banner for the primary reason of making money, it's not necessarily a ministry for them. The older you get, the harder it is to see such drastic changes from what you remember but when you talk to the kids, you realize that many of these bands do have a good impact on them.

Hey Don! I'd have to go with the Christian Crusaders. What a radical looking bunch. And there is just something scary about the Cooper Family. Mom looks just like Dana Carvey doing the "Church Lady".

I respect you Q and it is a topic I am very passionate about. I fully agree that there are BANDS out there claiming Christianity that do not line up with scripture, Yet there are bans that put pure king James scripture to music and people reject it cause it sounds "secular" Satan was the angel in charge of worship before he was cast out of heaven why are we just throwing all right to music at him and surrendering to a niche genre that repulses most people who weren't raised on it.?

Brother I agree with you in some aspects. However, we need to think about the message and how its impacting our culture. Is it positive or negative? The younger generation are more influenced on the "gimmick" than the message but which would you prefer, the songs saturated with sexual innuendo and perversion or the gospel singer with really baggy pants and a backwards baseball cap. Try Kenneth Copland songs on Pandora.com I think you'll like it

How can you judge like this? Do you know what's in the heart of all Christian bands? Do you remember waaay back when you were young, and the music you listened to was considered "new", and your parents/grandparents hated it, but you listened anyways? I really believe that church elders need to be respected, but they also need to give respect. You don't deserve to be respected.
