I am an Air Force guy. The trainings are different -- more difficult in the army -- but he needs to be in shape. First, if he really wants to serve in the army, he better suck it up and lose that pounds.
Ask him how many months does he has left before boot camp. Tell him to run 3 miles everyday because for the Army's fitness test, he needs to run 3 miles under 25 minutes. I dont know the numbers but he can ask the recruiter. Tell him to do 300 pushups everyday, and 300 situps. He must do more than 50 pushups in one minute and the same with situps.
He needs to drink a lot of water. It helps. He should drink a lot of water before he eats, during and after. He should always drink water.
For food, I suggest that he should diet, not starve himself to death but just carbs and protein food because he would need that for his exercises. No junk foods. And if he likes tuna and eggs, find a pasta recipe that has tuna or eggs.
And good luck with the Army

No worries, he can lose the weight if he's dedicated.

It's truly up to him if he wants to change his diet, because he doesn't have to eat anything you make for him. Here are some foods that are very healthy and can help him lose weight (besides tuna and eggs.)

chicken
beans
lettuce
cellery
tofu
turkey
fish

It's also important that he eats small meals. Even if he's not willing to sacrifice the amount he eats, it would be much healthier if he ate more meals and less food at each meal.

Eating is only part of the battle. Besides running, it would be great if he did the following activities.

swimming- (excellent way to shed pounds.. better than runnning)

bicycling- (a fun way to lose weight.. more exciting than running)

weight lifting- (make sure he uses light weights and sweats during every workout or else he will build muscle instead of burning fat.)

boxing- (your husband might not believe it right away, but he will be sweating like crazy within minutes of doing continuous high energy punches.)

basketball- (If your husband is not apt to the idea of simply running. Also, if he is playing with well conditioned players, he will be motivated to get in better shape.)

You sound like a great wife. I wish you and your family the best!!

i'm helpful he's known with it, yet whilst he does not artwork the lard off his @ss, he's gonna be in a international of harm. the army has replaced some standards and he could be waiting to get in at approximately 210, yet obese adult men would desire to degree under 30 p.c. physique fat, and be waiting to run 2 miles in quarter-hour, fifty 4 seconds. He additionally would desire to be waiting to bang out fifty 3 take a seat united statesand 40 two push united statesin 2 minutes each and every. yet whilst he's not disciplined sufficient to lose 30 pounds in one year, then i could ought to question his dedication and no count number if the provider is physically powerful for him. If he somewhat needs to lose the burden, lose the carbs and shrink beef to as quickly as each and every week. Italian nutrition? overlook approximately it. consume clean fruit and vegetables and NO sugary nutrition or beverages, sophisticated or quickly nutrition! Drink Skim Milk & water! variety the artwork outs to contain greater advantageous than working, do shadow boxing, calisthenics, swimming, cycling and weight instruction. If he needs it undesirable sufficient, he will ought to sacrifice. He would besides start up now and get used to the belief, in any different case he's basically kidding himself.

If he likes italian food, get him to eat healthier alternatives of italian food - if you have a health food store like Whole Foods in your area, tell him to buy Spelt or Whole Wheat pasta instead of the regular kind. Also get the fat-free marinara sauces (they just take out the olive oil and hey presto - it's fat free!). If he likes a meat sauce, use ground turkey or even "smart ground" in the sauce ... you can't tell the difference.

Also tell him to to eat smaller portions - eat 5-6 small meals instead of 3 large ones. Switch out candy and soda for fruit and water.

And as always exercise is key - 30 minutes, 5-7 days per week minimum plus strength training. That should help burn off the weight.

Weight is not the only measurement that the Army uses. There is also the matter of a Body Mass Index or Fat Percentage. He has to be careful, because improper weight loss will cause him to lose muscle, and the protein loss will be detected in the urine test in the MEPS physical. If he wants to lose weight he has to change how he lives and eats, if he won't do that, he isn't cut out for the Army anyway, because he lacks the discipline necessary to hack it.

If he has to lose 30 lbs by next summer, that's a YEAR away. If he's exercising now, he will lose that weight by then by not varying his diet at all, just by making sure he exercises 5 times per week. Tell him to get a gym pass and use the free exercise counseling the offer and follow it.

Tell him that when he joins the Army, his drill sergeant is going to be watching what he eats, even if he doesn't. Believe me, he is not going to be eating Italian food, tuna, and eggs everyday in basic training. It is best to lose the picky eating before joining the Army so he keeps below the drill sergeant radar.

Hi
This should work as it did for me so here goes,
If you are serious about losing weight, the calories in the food you eat should be less than the energy you use. You will have to increase your metabolic rate now, and plan your diet carefully.
Formulate your own weight loss plan and you will lose weight faster. More details available at http://tinyurl.com/m7ckx

Good luck
