I had this goal back in January to get down to 120lbs by September (at the time I was at 153lbs). I started out great - exercised 5-6 days per week (mostly cardio, some strength training), I kept my caloric intake to around 1400 - 1600 calories per day while still enjoying my food (I kept it well balanced, plenty of protein and fresh veggies, and tried to eat 5-6 small meals per day). I kept it up until about mid-May when I fell off the wagon and have struggled to get back on it again. I got down to 137lbs at my fittest but I'm back up to about 141lbs.

How do I get out of this rut and back to my exercise and diet plan again? I don't really know why I stopped or why I'm so reluctant to get back into it ... has this happened to anyone else?

I was walking 5 days per week - 5 miles per day. My cardio was walking to work every day (5 miles round trip). Unfortunately with the heat we've been having it's been difficult. I wanted to start going to the gym in the morning instead but I have trouble sleeping and so it's hard for me to get up early enough to go and workout before heading into the office.

Wanting the weight loss badly enough doesn't solve the fact I'm having problems sleeping and getting up early enough to exercise. It doesn't help that I have a hyperextended knee either and the recommendation about coffee? I can't drink coffee it makes me ill so that won't help. I'd love to get a personal trainer - but I'm flat broke.

I guess I was hoping people who have had this problem and overcame it would share with me how they did so ... I just need to read some inspirational stories from other people.

Make it fun!

Try something like rollerblading, belly dancing, fencing, tennis or swimming. The best way to stick with anything is to make it fun and exciting. Good luck!

I am a health educator. My recommendation to you is to begin walking regularly. Begin 12-15 minutes. Add 3-5 minutes until you work up to an hour 5 or 6 times a day. I assure you will lose your weight at that point. I lost 30 pounds in the last 2 years with this method..it works.

You just have to force your self to get up, have the coffee set be ready upon waking. You have to ask your self, how badly do you want the weight loss. Also hire a trainer ASAP, if you dont show up you lose like $40-60 dolllars, so its a gr8 motivator. Alos try a new routine, push some heavier weights, get an MP3 player, get some good power songs, find a gym partner. it really comes down to holw bad you want it. Also just do 3-4 days, or you will get too tired.

I don't know. In fact, I was wondering the same thing just a little while ago.

I was thinking how to get a group together to do aerobics once or twice a week in the small town I live in.

I may have to follow thur, but first.... I have to be highly motivated.

By sitting on my @ss in front of this computer and watching tv. I lose motivation because I do the same routine over and over. To avoid getting bored you need to mix it up.

you decide on greater vegetables, so lots greater dairy, and greater protein! shop the solid carbs needless to say, (culmination and vegetables) you definately decide on greater dairy, attempt yougurt or string cheese, lowfat milk contained in the morning! and attempt to get one stable lean meat in there as antagonistic to a television dinner! Lean beef, or floor turkey, fowl in line with possibility! solid success!
