What's the connection between Israel & God?

My twin sister told me that our bible class is saying that once the war with Lebanon & Israel end, then the world will end.

The connection between Israel and God is that Israel is God's special land. The Jewish people (Israelites) are God's chosen people. This goes way back to Abraham. God made a promise to Abraham that he would give him a special Nation and the Israelite people did not obtain that land until the time of Moses when he led them out of Eygpt. Over time they lost it several times because they did not follow God's word and commandments. It was foretold by prophets about the time when Israel would be brought back to there land to never be without a Nation again. In 1948, after over 2000 years of having lost the land, Israel was a Nation again. In the Book of Daniel and Revelations and other prophecy books in the Bible, it is told how the end of times would take place. One of the prophecies says that the end times generation will not pass (die) before the Messiah (Jesus) comes. A generation has been figured to biblicaly be around 70 years. 1948 plus 70 years is 2018, minus the 7 year tribulation is about 2011. Not only that, but it also tells of how Israel will be a thorn in the sides of all the Nations, right now pretty much all of the countries blame Israel for the tension in the Middle East. It tells of the wars with Persia (Iran) and how Damascus will become a ruin (unfit place to live). Damascus is in Syria. Syria and Iran are really hot to destroy Israel and would love to jump in this war. If Israel gets to close to the border of Syria, they have already said they would join in the war. If they do that, then Israel will more than likely bomb them and probably the US will help them. Thus, prophecy of the ruins iof Damascus will be fulfilled. If Iran joins in, there is another place prophecy could be getting fulfilled, although it will be more than Persia (Iran) that will be fighting in order for it to be prophecy coming to pass. I don't think the world will end when lebanon and Israel stop fighting, as there are still prophecies that must be fulfilled before Jesus comes. You should read the book of Daniel and Revelations if you are interested in end times prophecy. Israel had everything promised to it by God as did its people. There were many times through out history when Gods chosen people went against him and they were punished for it in various ways. One of those punishments is the constant warfare. There is much in the bible to read on it, but one must read it as a book of knowledge and not over analyze every word. Just start reading, its quite amazing the stories will find. The real question might be whether or not Israel will find peace. We can't be so afraid that the end times are near that we allow injustices to occur. Every generation has thought theres was the last.....why would ours be any different? Don't you trust Gods judgement?

No, the world will not end yet. There is at least a seven year period, called the tribulation period, that has not even begun yet before the return of Jesus Christ.

Israel, in the bible, are the chosen people of God. However, right at this point in time, most of them do not recognize Jesus as their Messiah. There will be a time when God deals with the nation of Israel again, and they will know that Jesus is indeed the Messiah.

The wars going on in the middle east are, as Jesus said, "a sign of the times". I do believe we are living in what is known as the "end times"...but I do not know how long until the clock starts on the seven year tribulation. Something tells me, it's in the not too distant future.

Israel is just another name for Jacob

The God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob (Israel)..the original covenant in the Old Testament made between God and Abraham. And, when Jacob's name was changed to Israel, his 12 sons would become the patriarchs of the Twelve Tribes of Israel. His young son Joseph would bring them all into Egypt to save them from starvation, and it would be Moses some 400 years later to lead the Jews out of Egypt.

That's not true. The Lord Jesus said that there would be wars and rumors of wars. However, there is a tribulation period which is coming in the future. This the time when the anti-christ will rise and make himself known. During his time here on the earth there will be 7 years of tribulation and judgement from God. However, those who are in Christ will be rapture with Him before the tribulation comes. So, right now we are waiting for the return of Jesus Christ. After He comes back, then there will be 7 years of tribulation. After the 7 years are over, then the millenial kingdom will be set up on earth for 1000 years.

As for your question, I'm not sure, other than the Israeli (I wonder why people don't say Israelite any more? Perhaps it leaves a bad taste on atheist and secularist tongues, as it sounds too biblical) Jews (a.k.a. God's Chosen people). However, people have been predicting the world's end since Jesus came, and Jesus told us himself that when the world ending, everyone would know it, but that until it happens, nobody knows the day or the hour when it will come.

This war is only the beginning of wars to come in the Middle East. It's a long story but they will try to go after Jerusalem and then Jesus Christ Himself will descend and kill the devil and put an end to all war forever and we who live in Christ will dwell with Him in Jerusalem. You see Jerusalem is His Throne and the World will see it adorned with every gemstone and streets paved with Gold. Just read Revelation 21 you can also read Revelation 19-21
