There is alot of information on the internet about it and several books available at almost all book stores (not christian book stores of course.) Its usually under alternative religions or some such heading. Look for books on wicca and white witch craft which is most likely what you are looking for.

There are many different types of Pagans. I think it's better to learn by doing rather than reading. If you go to www.witchvox.com you can search for local Pagans in your area who may be able to teach you. Other than that, I suggest you read various books by Cunningham, Sutton, Bonewitz, etc. on various different subjects to find out which Pagan religion is right for you. As far as becoming Pagan, all you have to do is dedicate yourself to a path, or just to exploring Pagan paths in general. Then you learn all you can and behave according to what you've learned. For example, most Pagan paths revere nature, so to be a "good" Pagan, you'll want to be environmentally conscious and not litter, or at least feel guilty when you do. Also since many Pagans recognize animals as our brothers, you may wish to cease eating them, or at least thanking their spirits when you do. There are many different ways to "be" Pagan, they all depend on what path you choose to follow. You may find some help in the Belief-O-Matic at Beliefnet.com.
You can also contact me personally if you would like more information. If you are in the Metro Detroit area, my group would be happy to assist with your training, and if not, I can surely help through email.

I think you have a very valid question. Please don't listen to the people that are preaching to you. Paganism is your choice, not theirs. I am so tired of Christians answering questions in the manner that they do when someone talks about the Pagan religion on here....so tired of it! (I'm sorry to vent l like this, but it gets on my nerves the way Christians treat Pagans.)
Anyhow.....the best place to start learning Paganism is in your heart. Do you love Nature? Do you think that it is possible to worship a female Deity in addition to a male one? Are you interested in magick, dragons, faeries, etc. Do you have questions that have not been answered by other religions that you are/were part of? If you answered yes to any of these, then I say that Paganism is the path for you.
If you wish to learn Paganism, the best thing to do is read, study and read some more. Read every Pagan book that you can get your hands on until you find the right Pagan path for you. Once you find a path that speaks to you, then read those type of books solely about that subject until you get the hang of it. (For example, Wicca, Druidism, Norse, etc..) A great book to start out on is 'Buckland's Complete Book of Witchcraft', by Raymond Buckland. Although it is Wiccan in nature, it will give you a good starting point.
As far as websites are concerned, I am going to take this opportunity to plug my own. Please visit http://www.magickalpair.net . My site is geared toward beginners, so I think you will find it useful. I also have a very active message board that you can join if you wish. There are people from all levels of experience that can answer any question you would like to ask. Here is the URL for it: http://triplespiral.proboards83.com/index.cgi .
If you would like to talk personally about Paganism, please feel free to e-mail me. (My contact info is on my profile.) Good luck in your search. :-)

If you are a Christian you already know some of what pagaism is about. as most of the rights and services ,holydays ect were copied from the pagans to draw them into converting them to Christianity. By definition a pagan is anyone who lived to far from a city to attend the local Gods ceromonities. And used what they worked with everday to make there own religion . a nature based one that is. using the Four elements plus spirit in their rites. and letting the female or male spirit to rule different times of the year except for one when both were in harmony(fertility rites.)
A trip to your local chain bookstore like Barnes and noble will have a large section of books on diferent aspects of Paganisn and wicca. And other religions.
Chose carefully there are some books that are just the authors view on what they think pagaism is about.
Selena fox, Raven silverfox, the farrs, Gramassia all have good starter books on magic and its meanings and history.

There are many different kind of Pagan Religions. Which one would you like to know about? Most of them are nature based. My religion isn't really Pagan but it does sometimes get grouped as one. If you would like to read up on it you can go to http://netjer.org and read up on my religion. I hear witchvox is good for Wicca. I don't know a lot of others but you can always google whatever Pagan religion you are looking for or just google Pagan religions and see what you get. Good luck!

Pagan or Wiccan... which one is it? Pagan is usually used as an umbrella term for all nature-based religions. I call myself pagan... for I am a Witch or follow a magic base that is more Druidic in nature but not either. I am certainly not Wiccan. All Wiccan's are Pagan, but not all Pagan's are Wiccan. If it is Wicca, try witchvox.com they can let you know of local covens or groups that are in your area!
Just a note to all those that are trying to "Save" all of us Pagans from Eternal Hell! Wicca is the fastest growing religion in America! Also, Hell and Satan are a Christian/Judeo Identity, not a Pagan path/entity. We do believe in evil, we believe it has many faces and orginates in many places

Well, you could have a decorated tree and give gifts during the Roman Winter Solstice on December 25th or use bunny rabbits and hide eggs for the observance of Baal (worship of sex and reproduction) during the first week after the Spring Equinox. That would make you a pagan.
