I use a Kodak EasyShare v530 and it uses rechargeable batteries, not AA ... And comes with the dock, the camera is great, I bought it for $250 at Wal-Mart about 3 months ago ... And was a little upset after my cats knocked it off my kitchen table and messed it up and I took it to exchange it and saw that it was now priced at $140 ... But it's okay, I got a brand new one and it's the best digital camera I have ever used besides my dad's ... He is a professional photographer and uses some type of Sony digital camera with a long lense thing on the front

While I love Nikon cameras, I'd suggest the Canon A620. We did a lot of shopping while trying to stay in the under $400 range and this is exactly what we bought for our adult son before he went on a trip to Europe. For that money, you can get the camera and a one gigabyte memory card. The A620 lets you control everything, if you know how, or it takes great shots in several automatic modes. This has been the Comcast Shopping Top Choice for months now. It uses "AA" batteries, too. You could keep the price down by buying only a 256 MB memory card, but I'd suggest you go for at least a 512 MB and get one with decent write speed like a Sandisk Ultra II. It elminates some of the frustration of having to wait for your picture to sav before you can take the next one.
I am not familiar with the details of the Canon A540 mentioned above, but I am sure that it's a decent camera as long as you get an adequate memory card. It's rated well on Comcast Shopping with 4.5 out of 5 stars.
