How does the other person feel about you? If you both care about each other, respect one another, enjoy each others company then that sounds like a lovely reason to get married. I would be more concerned if there were dishonesty and lack of respect in the relationship. Passion doesn't last but genuine care can continue to grow and deepen over time.

People get married for that reason all the time. Whether it's OK or not is your call. You just better be sure you want to spend the rest of your life with this person before you make a major decision like this.

It's my opinion that two people can marry for a variety of reasons. The trouble comes when one person is marrying for one reason, and the other is marrying for another reason, and after the wedding they find out they had no idea what the other person had in mind.
Total and absolute honesty is necessary before you marry anyone.

yes, but are you sure you truly are IN love with him?Friends can be such good companions to the point where you always want to be around them- like best friends. If you have any doubts about getting married or your not sure whether you love him that much- enough to spend your entire life with him then maybe you should hold off on the marriage thing until you are sure. You dont want to end up at divorce court a year from now...

No it is not OK. Marriage (especially the nuclear family American Marriage) has destroyed more friendships than any other concept. I lost a lot of friends when they got married, and I lost a lot of friends when I got married. I love my wife but, if I had to do it all over again, I would never have gotten married.

If you are both elderly , there's nothing wrong with it ... If you are young and vibrant then the answer is no..... you'll need more than companionship to make the marriage work....
Most young people just get a pet for companionship - they don't go and marry someone....

Only if not marrying him meant that you'd never see him again.
But there is a technical problem of consummation, and the possible later change of heart.
Best to do a thorough prenuptial before going ahead with the wedding.

Well, if you can't be without him, does that mean that you love him? Isn't that why most people get married?
Whatever your reasons, if you want to do it and you make it work, does it really matter?
