Yes! One symptom of a manic episode is increased sexual desire and impulsivity. And during a depressive period, interest in sex and disappear altogether.

i am and was bipolar; my sexual desire never went away for months; i think it did go away for several weeks -at a time, tho.
and yes bipolar can cause too much sexual desire--sometimes a "nussiance". but, i think there could be other mental and physical reasons for NO INTEREST AT ALL. Best wishes! I take Zyprexa and it seemed to take all of my sex drive away, but then it could just be due to "menopause" or BOTH & old age ? l o l --no, seriously--I'm not sure! Best Wishes!

That is common for bi-polar people, yes. It is considered a symptom.

But it can also be common for people with no neurological disorders. There are so many factors which contribute to libido.

I am not bipolar, but two people close to me are. The answer to your question is yes, it goes along with the hormone imbalance that causes the mood swings.
