He CAN get her pregnant - be careful! She is way too small to whelp puppies from your Cocker! The puppies won't live and your female probably won't either if you try this or allow it to happen. Your vet is right about not fixing her until after her first heat cycle. The first cycle is very important to her growth and the maturity of her mammory glands.

You should get you Cocker Spaniel neutered. Why won't your vet spay your Chihuahua till after her first heat? Is it a breed or size type of thing? My dog was spayed at 5 months, and I have no idea if she was in heat before that, but I've never heard of waiting for that. I would imagine that he can get her pregnant because I've heard of Chihuahuas being crossed with larger dogs. I'd separate them until you get her spayed or you get him neutered

yes he can get her pregnant. By the way she should have had her first heat at 6 months. If your vet won't spay her now , find another vet. Dogs can be spayed before first heat.

Uh yeah, he can definatley get her pregnant. And it wouldnt be good for her, the puppies would be way too big for her.
My grandfather told the story of holding up a 5 lb chihuahua to a great dane female when he was in Germany....

He could get her pregnant, you should keep them separate until she is spayed, or he is neutered. An English Mastiff can mate with a bulldog, and there is a huge size difference there.

sadly... yes he can get her pregnant. you might want to look into finding a new vet. i know there is some controversy about when to spay, but on most reputable sites it is said that waiting until after the first heat is unneccesary.

He is probably too big, but I would not take the chance. Sounds like she is probably coming in heat and you should seperate them until 3 weeks have passed. If she is in heat, her privates will be swollen and she will be bleeding.

Probably too big, but be careful. If she does get pregnant it would kill her to carry these babies. Keep them seperate if you don't want to find out she is pregnant later and have possible problems/have to abort the pups.

Yes he can impregnate her and it would be dangerous for her to give birth to those pups, keep them apart. She is fertile for days after she stops bleeding as well so keep them apart longer than you think is necessary.

yes. The cocker spaniel will kill it. If not during the act, then the babies will.
Seperate them immediatly.
