I feel some people don't believe in God because it is just not in them. To believe in God you have to believe in someone you have never seen, someone that you feel in your heart and soul. That is were faith comes in. Some people find it easier to believe in what they can feel or touch and with God it doesn't work that way. To some people it is easier to believe in Science than God. As I was growing up I got confused too. Because what you learn in school is so believable. You picked a wonderful topic I can go on and on. but I leave it at this. I have the faith.

This is a complex question with many answers. Disbelief in God could be a result of how someone was raised. It could be the result of the refusal to see God's hand in an event which caused the individual suffering and sorrow. Perhaps the person likes having a sense of authority, so they don't like God. Maybe the person doesn't like the idea of there being something out there more powerful than himself. It could have been a bad impression left on them by a believer somewhere that has mislead them to the conclusion that all believers are bigots, hypocrites and simpletons. It might even be that the individual likes to be cynical and gets satisfaction from convincing themselves that they are disillusioned and all believers are widdle babies who bewieve faiwy tayuws. And it just might be that they think the concept of faith silly and restricting - though I can't imagine how miserable my life would be without Christ.

However, I will say one thing: I have met many atheists, and never have I met a humble atheist who is willing to put others before himself in matters of import. If I ever find one, maybe my view on them will change, but that has yet to happen.

Evidence, the evidence is all around us, the fact that your breathing right now is evidence that there is a God and that he cares for you, look outside all the beauty the trees, the complex organisms, componds so complex humans cant even describe them, how can you think that that could be an accident when it clearly states in the Bible, how everything was created by God, to worship Him and have fellowship with Him. The Resurrection of Christ can be proved but men choose to ignore it there is so much evidence that points to Christ being who He says He is, and that there is a God in heaven that truly loves you, and would like to have a relationship with you.

Those are the people who want tangible proof. Oftentimes it is hard to explain a belief based solely on faith. Even the churches themselves are trying their best to prove their claim through archeological diggings and historical searchings on places where they think God appeared to the first people on earth.
Do not blame them. We need them sometimes as a gauge to our belief that might bring us to a blind faith if they are not there. While there is blessing on those who believe there is also a wisdom sometimes to those who doubt. Doubt is the way to search the truth and oftentimes through doubt the journey becomes more enlightening. In that way your encounter will become the basis of your belief which could lead to a much stronger faith.

some people don't believe in God because they believe that if God is so great why does he kill people. I am a Christian and I believe God does it so we have a better life in heaven. I will be happy when my time comes for him to take my life and live with him but I will still miss my family and friends. at least i will watch over my family and friends. believe in God

Going along with a previous comment, there is no evidence for God that science hasn't already explained. Just because our understanding is lacking on a subject doesn't automatically subject itself to "God". Especially Abrahamic religions, they have to tune their understanding or interpretations of scriptures to coincide with modern discoveries. It is very obvious that man is not 5,000 years old, as the Torah says they are. It is obvious that there wasn't 6 days of creation, like the Torah says. I am certain, that with modern science that eventually every written letter of God's creation in the Torah/NT/Qur'an will be disproven. Religion served its purpose, it explained unexplainable things for that time period. I.E. The rainbow of Noah. Today, we know that light travels at different frequencies and that different frequencies define different colors. All colors are the reflections of frequencies on certain materials. Water happens to be one that can channel different frequencies of light. What did the Torah say? God made the rainbow as a covenant with man, to never destroy the earth with a flood again. Sorry, the rainbow had to always exist, for if it didn't... light would have never existed.

Be good.

It could be something as simple as a bad experience with hypocritical people. Culture could also come in to play. History could also be a reason some people don't believe in God.

Jesus never said that this life would be easy, free from strife, pain, and misery. I am dealing with some situations right now that are really trying my faith. Yet, Jesus did say that through it all he would be "with you always". That's enough for me.

Because it just isn't for everyone. I don't have anything against the Christian God but He isn't for me. I love my Gods and I would never change that for anything. That is why there are so many religions out there. Because no one religion is meant for every person. Oh and don't be rude to others. Everyone should have a right to answer questions without being told to shut up.
