Hi Steph,

It is great that you are trying to cut down fatty foods. Cutting down some is always better than not cutting out any at all ;) So you dun really have to beat yourself afterwards for eating the wrong foods.

Forgive yourself and just tell yourself that you will do better the next time.

There are a few things you could do to turn the situation around:

1) When you are at work and hungry, you dun really think so much. You may tend to reach for wrong foods because the foods around you are the wrong ones. Why don't you put 'good foods' around you.

Bring an apple or two to school. Keep some museli bars in your bag or have a box of salad on standby. When you have foods around you to 'replace' the fatty foods, you will not have that much of a problem with reaching out for the wrong foods.

2) Take some supplements or health food that will give you the right amount of nutrients.

Our body only feels hungry when we run out of energy, need certain nutrients. When you take something extra to give your body all the nutrients that you need, you will tend not to feel hungry all the time.

In the past, you may eat and still feel hungry because you are not eating what your body needs.

I myself am taking a chlorella based product called VPlus and it has all the nutrients that the human body needs. In addition, it has this energy enhancer called Indininine in it.. and I have lost 15kg (33lbs) within 2 months using this food to do a detox diet.

Another friend who simply changed her diet a little and took VPlus lost about 10 lbs within a month.

Buy only healthy food and pack your lunch for work, then leave your extra money at home so you can't be tempted. Try to eat more turkey like ground turkey instead of hamburger, turkey cutlets instead of pork, turkey bacon, turkey sausage, they even have turkey hot dogs. For the most part it all tastes the same as the higher fat items with the exception of the bacon. It is artificially flavored but still edible enough for the difference in calories. Buy lots of fruits and veggies in place of cookies and chips or you can try rice cakes and baked chips. Also It is best to eat five small meals a day so you never get hungry and end up over doing it or grabbing an unhealthy snack. It also keeps your metabolism up so you have more energy to burn the calories. Don't skip meals; it will signal your body to store more fat and you will actually gain instead of lose. One person said granola bars-DO NOT go near them-they are a myth-they actually are full of calories, fat, sugar and very bad on the teeth. But you can't deny the sweet tooth or it will jump out at you when a chocolate cake shows up, so mostly stick to fresh fruit, but there are a lot of healthy, low calorie ways to satisfy.
Freeze fruit and make smoothies.
And whatever you do, DON'T beat yourself up.

Stick to it. Its all about willpower. Surround yourself with things that inspire you (old pictures of yourself, etc.) And if you slip, don't beat yourself up over it. It doesnt mean that the rest of your day is ruined for eating healthy. Its ok to have an occasional treat.

Think about this: studies have shown that it takes three weeks to form a "habit." So if you want to change something (exercising, eating healthier, getting up earlier, whatever!) stick to it for three weeks, and then it will become much easier.

People don't plan to fail, they just fail to plan. With the Internet there are so many resources to use, just sit down, plan out your meals for the week, make a list to buy and do it....seems kinda obsessive compulsive...but it works. Discipline is the key....do this and there isn't any beating up to do....just execution of a well thought out plan of attack....and you know you have done the job. Pretty easy

Start changing the way you see food. Change your mind, stop obsessing about food. Don't worry about what is for lunch or dinner, stop thinking about food. Also, keep in mind that fruits and veges are priorities. You can eat as much of these as you want and they will only help you.

I feel like that sometimes. Try to stick with smaller yet healthy sized portions and go for lean meats and lots of fruits and veggies. At work I like granola bars and bananas with pb.

Good luck

you just have to learn discipline. tell yourself 'DONT EAT FATTY FOODS." cravings last an average of 15 minutes. water can help you to curve your cravings-- you should keep some bottles at work for when those pop up on you and keep on working. concentrate on your work and soon enough you will have forgotten you were craving at all.

Its quite easy. Get it all out of your house! Buy tupperware and prepare food. And when you are out don't bring your wallet.
