Overbites are normal, as long as they are within the clinical norms (vertical 4mm, horizontal 2mm). Don't worry about it, you will look fine, your orthodontist knows what he's doing. Just make sure you keep using your retainer at the end of your treatment and make sure if you haven't already to get your wisdom teeth pulled, especially bottom ones. They tend to push (impacted 3rd molars) the rest of your teeth out of alignment. not as common for the tops ones though.

Overbite is normal. If I move my top teeth just a tiny little bit downward, I hit the braces on the bottom, and my orthodontist's professor said that it's normal, and that I should not worry. Literally, I feel like a rabbit, but it's OK. For me, even my canines go over the bottom teeth, they don't meet exactly.

If you've got any Q's about braces... you can ask me b/c I've been at this for... the better part of 5 yrs, and I'm having implants, so most things regarding crowns, bridges, implants, braces, bone grafting, I can probably answer. Don't even get me started on the drama that occurred...

I don't know how much overbite you have, but some amount of overbite is absolutely normal. Your teeth are not suppoed to meet edge-to-edge. I don't know that 50% overbite is "normal," but it's not outside the norm. It's hard to look in the mirror and critically judge your own degree of overbite, also.

Is your orthodontist concerned about the degree of overbite you have now?
