Do you think that by posting questions about religion on here that you are honestly going to sway someone to beleive what you want them to? What is your opinion about people who try to "sway" you thier way? Oh, and if you don't mind, could you please tell me what you believe in? I'm personally Christian, but don't beleive in coming on here and trying to "convert" someone in my faith. I think it's fine whatever you believe. I'm not here to try and "convert" you, I just want you opinion on people who try to...

I think that people who go looking at questions for and about religion are hoping to be swayed. Someones interest could be furthered, or turned off. Some religions have as their premise to do missionary work to convert people to the faith, so they sway because they believe they are doing something wonderful for you.

If someone tries to push a religious issue with you and won't drop it when politely told it isn't needed, then they are not religious, they are zealots. People can be zealots about more than just religion.

Born and raised strict Roman Catholic, but left the church and do not practice any organized religion. Good Karma is all you need.

I have no desire to change anyone's religion. I like answering questions on here that do not indicate a particular religion or those which are near enough to my path where I may be able to help someone to learn what they are seeking. I do not answer questions that are obviously written for those of a faith that is different than mine, or questions that are about a sacred text of a religion that I don't practice. Sometimes I will read answers to questions that I want to learn more about, but I don't answer them.

I honestly do not care whether people believe the same way that I do. That is up to them. I also do not feel that there is a one and only "true" way for everyone. I respect other people's beliefs and sometimes they return the consideration.

I'm a christian (presbyterian) and I don't think that there is any problem with asking questions dealing with your faith. I am definitly not an evangelical and I don't like trying to convert people. Instead I would rather open the door so that poeple can walk through it on their own. I don't get bothered by people who try and sway me but I think it can be more of a turn off than an invatation. Therefore, I just express my faith through my actions and I am open to any question people may have about christianity during their faith journey.

When I come here and ask a question it is because I truly want to know something. I have never once tried to convert someone else to my religion. I have had two or three people ask me about my religion and I have told them and given them a site to go look at. If they convert that is fine but they don't have to. No pressure from me. Actually the two that have wanted the site where not in a religion at the time and were actually looking for one. They asked me and I told them. I am Kemetic Orthodoxy. I don't mind if people try to convert me but when I say no then I want them to be able to back off and not keep going. I am not going to change my religions. I love the one I have and I am very comfortable with it.

personally, i am not here to "sway" anybody into believing what i want them to believe. people post questions and/or answers to exchange knowledge, personal views, and/or to gain a better understanding. nevertheless, i've noticed some people that purposely or unawarely try to impose their beliefs onto others. i understand what u mean.

there are a number of reasons why people try to "sway" others....one reason might be that they feel strongly about what they believe in therefore feel that they should spreed the word to others. i just do not appreciate when "swayers" fail to acknowledge that everybody has their own opinions and beliefs...yet they still try to inforce their own believes onto others and start judging.

a person will be swayed into something if they allow themselves. you cannot force a person to change their opinion overnight.

u also wanted to know what i believe in...i do not have a definite answer. i do not practice anything and im not an atheist.....i always say that i was raised christian, but i do not call myself christian.

Since we truly believe that the Messengers of God give us the best plans to conduct a decent life and to build an ever-advancing civilization on earth, so we want very much that other people should know about this too.
This is a brief introduction about the Baha'i Faith:

The Bahá'í Faith is an independent world religion. With more than five million adherents residing in over 124,000 localities, the Bahá'í Faith is established in 204 countries across the planet. The spiritual principles of the Bahá'í Faith affirm its overall purpose--to bring about the oneness of humanity. In cooperation with these same principles, Bahá'ís also believe that there is only one Creator and that the spiritual truth of all religions is the same. From a Bahá'í perspective, The Bahá'í Faith is the most recent of the world's great religions. It forms the next link in a chain of important, divine teachings, a progressive revelation that places Bahá'u'lláh, the founder of the Bahá'í Faith, as the Messenger of God for this age.

I am a Druid, a worshipper of nature and the power of holds. And I personally believe that trying to sway or force others into another religion is wrong. People have the right to salvation, by whatever path they choose. For me, Druidism is more a lifestyle than a religion. It brings me closer to nature and the magic of this world, instead of simply focusing on what happens after death. I am able to look at stuff like the tsunamis and Katrina and be in awe of mother nature's power, of her reminding us humans of who is really in control of the human race's fate, rather than sitting back and simply saying "Oh, how could G~d do that?"

Some people never stop with the sales pitches.
I believe some people ask honest questions and if they, or somebody else likes what you say, they may become interested. But these ridiculous, "you will go to hell if" you do this or don't do that, you would have to be a complete moron to go for that. But hey, there is one born every minute.
I personally practice the ancient African religion of Ifa. We are closed for new members though for now, sorry.
Just joking about the closed part!

I am a convert to Reform Judaism, but I don't try to convert others. There is no end to what one can learn in Judaism; each new concept is exciting. Most Christians know very little about Judaism despite calling Christianity Judeo-Christian! Can you imagine learning Christianity without the New Testament? Yet some Christians think they understand Judaism without ever having read a word of the Talmud. Incredible!

No I think they have no effect at all. Some people are honestly curious, but others just like to hear themselves talk.... or see themselves type... whichever.... Anyways, I don't appreciate the "swayers" because I don't try to convert them either.

I'm Wiccan, and I believe that prayers go to the same place, that all gods are one energy and we are all children of the Universe which is the ultimate creator, mother and father, god and goddess. That is my belief, but notice, I only explained it. If only everyone on here could be like you and I. :) I think answers would be fantastic that way.
