Yes, birthing a baby does hurt, however, there are measures that can be taken to decrease the pain. When you are in labor, you can request an epidural. An epidural is where a catheter is placed in your spinal canal and medication is administered so that the lower part of your body is numb. The medications effects usually wear off shortly after delivery. You can also use relaxation and visualization techniques. If you don't have an epidural, don't lay in bed. Get up and walk, rock in a rocking chair, get on your hands and knees and rock back and forth, or use a birthing ball. Doula's are extremely helpful in the birthing process to assist the mother through labor. Tell your Labor and Delivery nurse what your expectations are for the birth of your baby, and if she is a skilled and knowledgeable nurse, she will help you attain your goals. Also, attend childbirth classes. These help to prepare you for the birth of your baby.

yes it does hurt very bad it will be the most pain you will have felt your entire life and you'll be swearing things you never swore before and you'll wonder if the pain will ever end. dont be a hero tho if it gets to be too much ask for something for pain.

you speak bad english. but when girls have babies yes it does hurt quite a LOT . women go through alot of pain squeazing out that baby.

Of course it does. Imagine the pain if you were expected to poop out a basketball and multipy that by about 100.

did you ever take a really big crap?, now imagine a 8 lb one that is as big around as your palm, got it..... now times it by ten and I think that would come somewhere close, but I'm just a guy and I saw my son come out. I now have a all new respect for women.

Well just close your eyes and imagine yourself having the child, yes it is the most pain ive ever had and i had 2 natural and one c-section.

i only experience the c-section way of birth and it hurts afterwards! and for you other answerers don,t make fun of the spelling maybe they are from another country!
