How did you get the idea that cleaning the waste excrement is a religious or spirituality concept. I am under the impression that all living things do in one form or another excrete waste material. I am also of the opinion not all living things have a religious hang-up.

Please do forgive me but as a "NO", I know I do not know a lot and do have too much to learn. Maybe your question with your exposed view that cleaning the butt was a religious concept is the new knowledge for me today. OK thank you for the question.

Yes I am smiling and as I wonder if you ever lived here in the Philippines. It is over 90% Catholic with a population of 80,000,000 plus and the toilet paper companies are not getting rich here because the water is the in thing. Yes they do survive but they must market Kleenex tissue for the face to do it ha ha ha.

Have a great day and do smile as I am.

It's not just MUSLIMS. I'm from India and everyone here is happy using hands. And I know you guys don't know this , but we have a rule here. We use the LEFT hand for all those things. And RIGHT for eating. So, it is a custom to receive everything and offer everything with the RIGHT hand. No wonder there are so few left handers in India.
And yes,I'm thoroughly happy using my hand to do whatever needs to be done. Will the guy who said that Indians can't afford toilet paper please tell me how many years he's lived in India ?

Well the Europeans use a bidet, basically they sit and it sprays water in their private regions. The Japanese sit in a fountain that sprays their privates from all angles.

Americans are one of the few civilized cultures that rely on toilet paper; few wipe effectively and therefore many walk around with stanky pants and the constant embarrassment of bleaching out skid marks from their undies.

I once worked for a Pakistani who apparently did not wipe at all. He would go and not flush, and there would be no toilet paper in the toilet either. Bet doing his laundry was no joy!

toilet tissue is a new invention so why is it so shocking that it is not an neccesity and you can you chose to use toilet tissue but toilet tissue is for convience and do not have a cleaning ability just a smearing ability!
so just think about it you are not fresh and clean using toilet tissue you are only partly smear and stain free this is the only use toilet tissue has!

Why are there so many damn post about muslims and christians. That's all I see, and it's getting old. The bottom line is that muslims think one way and christians think another. That's called individualism. Get used to it everyone.

We should be talking about something more important. Like the fact that this planet is falling apart.

a lot of non-muslims use water too. in india few people use toilet paper because a lot can't afford it and the sewer systems often cannot handle it. also, in places in europe, they use water as well.

I heard this was true, (while I was in Iraq), so I didn't shake hands with anyone (just in case). I was also told that they wipe it on the wall before washing their hands afterwards. That may not be a common practice, but some of our soldiers were visiting a family and it was true in that case.
