Since I had two kids from a previous marriage, when I decided to date again I looked for someone whose parenting would match my own. While we don't agree on each little piece; overall, we have the same values and priorities in how we want to parent.

I think we discipline our kids like my husband was raised. With manners and self control. My little knows he has to say please and thank you and yes ma'am and no ma'am. I would not want it any other way. I hate seeing parents try to be be a child's friend. Kids need limits and guidance not a friend. You can be both, but do not let your children run over you. You will regret it in the long run when they do not respect you.

I don't have children yet, but when I do, trust me my parenting style will not model the one I was raised by, my childhood was so disfunctional...I want my children to have a happy, healthy, normal childhood.

My dad beat me so no I don't parent that way. My husbands dad ignored and yelled at them all the time. That's how my husband thinks you are supposed to parent.

more like mine than his. He didn't have the best childhood and as wierd as this sounds - it has made him a great father. He vows to never treat his kids like he was treated.
