The planet Earth is the only planet in this solar system that can support life as we know it.

It is very apparent to me that there is only so much space , so much resources etcetera and that these resources have to be shared among all the living things on the planet.

The planet is about 8000 miles in diameter [actually less 7925 @ the equator & 7900 pole to pole] This makes for about 200 million sq mi TOTAL surface area and about 60 M sq mi of 'dry' land including antartica , the sahara and other inhospitable places.

The human population IS putting a great deal of pressure on the ecosystem.

If there were fewer people there would be more land area per person and maybe some to spare for the other creatures that inhabit the planet many of which we depend upon either directly or indirectly.

Why is trying to control the human population a taboo subject and or why do the vocal religious people so dislike the idea of contraception or other preventative abortion measures or abortion?

On abortion some will say that this is killing the unborn child even if this unborn child is no more than an unrecognizable clump of cells so small that literally one or two might be able to be placed on the head of a pin.

While murder is disagreable with everyone many of these vocal religious people have hot objected to the recent wars in which many innocent fully grown visable and recogizable people with memories and history where killed. Certainly this must be more objectionable than killing a group of cells that could die before birth [miscarage]

The planet is only so big and it is not getting any bigger. If there are more people then there are more competing for the limited resouces.

The planet has shown many times in the past that there is a limit to what it can produce and if the human population exceeds what the area can provide there will be direr consequences.

War is but one of many visible proofs that the planet is over populated. Limited resouce [land water etcetera] being fought over by an ever increasing human population [demand]

On the supply and demand /capitalism view of the issue is the cost of everything. Housing have gone to extreme costs and it seems that every available piece of land is being taken up to make more housing.

As Calvin of Calvin and Hobes said animals can't afford condos or town houses

One of the many others is the 'strip mining' of the oceans to feel the ever increasing population. With dire consequence for all inhabitants of the planet.

I could go on but this is getting way to long

Well, if we don't practice population control, the earth finds other ways to weed us out. No matter what we find cures for, there will always be a newer, stronger disease or virus to wipe out a certain number of people.

If you knew the agenda behind contaceptives you would think twice. Margaret Sanger started the movement because she had Nazi beliefs, of superior and inferior races. The problem was the inferior races breed like crazy and she wanted to put contaceptives in the water supply. Also, the word "contraceptive" is an improper word because most contraceptives are actually abortifacients (causing a fertilized human embryo to be discharged). Biblically contaceptive use goes against the will of God and the people who practice it are playing God.

The concept of there being an "overpopulation" of people on the planet is not true. This is an erroneous concept to impliment the agenda for validating contraceptive use into society. There is actually an improper distribution of food and other products. God made the earth to be very resilient with its own purification process. It comes down to proper management of resources.

The population of the planet doesn't need to be controlled (in certain countries, yes)--- the toxic waste from industries is the big problem ....not to mention aerosol cans, freon, Styrofoam--- this is creating problems with the ozone. What are they doing with nuclear waste?

Using AGI figures through 2002, estimating 1,293,000 abortions for 2003-05, and factoring in the possible 3% undercount AGI estimates for its own figures, the total number of abortions performed in the U.S. since 1973 equals 47,282,923.( And the number grows each year ... and these abortion are for just the US alone....) Now they also have the morning after pill to prevent pregnancies ...

The key to a successful religion is to create more like minded people. Once childhood indoctrination has been applied, it usually takes some personally defining incident to undo it. I think many of these people stop thinking for themselves at an an early age because education tends to associate groups of facts rather than to stress original thinking. These people THINK they're thinking. Instead, they've gotten used to being spoon fed someone else's rhetoric, whether it be political, social or religious. Most of these ideas aren't logical, scientific, or in anyway original. They're just the "party line" enhanced with pomp and ceremony. The goal of which is to control you by making you afraid and bringing you down to their level. Don't go there!

I think because some people consider all life precious and that any attempt to prevent it would be evil. At any rate, I agree with you, overpopulation is an important issue. I head that the global population could reach 19 billion within the next 100 years!

There is nothing wrong with family control within the confines of marriage. The problem is when contraceptives are used for the purpose of enjoying a life of sexual liberty outside of marriage without any moral misgivings or responsibility. People have to start respecting each other and not treat each other as objects of pleasure, devaluing human dignity and human life. Lastly, where is your evidence to support the idea that the earth is being over-populated?

I agree with you 100%. I don't understand why so many "pro-life" groups are anti-contraception. It makes no sense to me. When you ask them why they don't support birth control, their answer is "we don't believe in premarital sex". Well, ok but what about families with 5 kids and on welfare? People are not going to stop haveing sex just cause you tell them to.
Also, have they figured out that the more people know about contraception and use it, less unwanted pregnancies= less abortions?

The global population will shrink over the next 100 years.

At least in the developed nations.

The "un"developed nations should stop having HIV-infected babies and they'll be good to go.
