Carrots have a glycemic load of 3.5. That is extremely low but the lower, the better. Good carbs like celery and carrots will never make you fat. Bad carbs like cake will, but you don't need to know the whole science of glycemic index and load. It is mostly NOT your fault, if you need to lose weight. The way we have been taught to eat is responsible for making obesity the number one health problem in the world (according to Atlantic Monthly magazine) replacing hunger and infectious disease. You need to re-learn how to eat so you can become thin. Not a diet, but diet lifestyle.

Find out about fastest way to lose weight, gradual ways to lose weight, most effective exercise, good and bad carbs and anti-water. Lose bodyfat and retained water which also makes you a lot fatter (bloated). Links page has gov. BMI calculater to find out just how much overweight you are. Most important-- make sure to read the last "fat loss tip", first before anything else, to see the number one food that causes Americans to be fat.

That's tricky - I'd get a book on the subject.

It's a tough diet to follow. I just cut back on what I ate, take vitamins, and try to eat healthy. i.e./ bananas and pb, rice cakes, the occassional chocolate bar for morale...

Try not to take it too seriously or you're doomed to failure because you'll start fantasizing about what you're denying yourself. Been there done that and believe me there's nothing more embarrassing about waking up from a dream about eating just because you where half starving yourself the night before.

Good luck

Just about any meat, fish, poultry, veggies and many dairy products are ok. Just stay clear of anything loaded with sugar or high fructose corn syrup, minimize your intake of potatoes, white rice and other starches and avoid anything made with processed white flour and you'll be OK. Just read the labels.
