I am a guy, and it would be horribly improper to bash on my fellow men, so I will word my response very carefully.
There is a famous line "Men are pigs"; in some respects, it is very true. While women have the stereotype of tricking men into doing what they want, men can be equally manipulative if they try.
With that said, this seems to be one of such situations. The guy got what every guy thinks about an average of once every second, and after that, ignored what many men never seem to think about. While I admit that I do not know what this "hit and run" saying is, I can tell you that knowing how men often work, it is likely he is trying to get rid of you now.
My deepest sympathies on such a situation. May you find better results with future men. We are not all so bad.
