He is not doing anything that he believes is wrong. He was taught this by his mother, when the mom kept the nest clean. When mom became too overwhelmed to keep clean after all the litter, the pups were good little helpers and did it themselves....They didn't have gloves and bags, so just did it the way they could. He is just being fastidious. Please DON'T rub his nose in it. That will only confuse him. He will not get the point, and you will have a messy and traumatized dog.
Dog's ancesters have done this for eons, to keep their area clean and to not let predators know where they live. It is as natural for them as hand washing is for people.
The only solution is to consistantly beat him to it. Hopefully he will learn that you can be trused to clean it up so he doesn't have to.... Meanwhille, there is an additive available at all pet supplies that will make the stuff very bitter. This may help some.
Note: the ones that do this are usually the easiest to house train, as they are good house keepers

This is tough! And very very common in dogs! It's gross, but it's what dogs do...eat yucky stuff!! You need to pick up the feces right away, as this can be an extermely difficult behavior to break. They make a powder call For Bid, that you can mix in the dogs food for several days and it's supposed to make the poop taste terrible. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Put some meat tenderizer powder on his food. Garlic powder works too, but with either, use ONLY a small sprinkle. it may take another day or two, but then it will usually stop.
Also, keep an extra eye on the puppy when he is out of your sight. If you can catch him in the act, you can take it off the floor faster and that can't hurt right?

Short of picking it up afterwards (I call this Poo Patrol), you don't. Your puppy is lacking some mineral/vitamins in its diet. Try organic chicken mince (if you can get it) add foods such as grated carrot, cheese, lettuce, beans, brown rice, corn, brussel sprouts etc.. All the stuff that you eat, mix it with the chicken mince. Its good stuff, and at least you know whats going in to your animals. Most commercial animal foods contain some mightly toxic stuff, most of which causes expensive treatments down the track. Good luck.

When a dog eats its own feces, it could be missing something from its diet. Check with your vet, they can give you some medicine to add to your dogs food.
Good luck

you can do it by modifying his behavior. there is a powder you can sprinkle in their food that is supposed to keep them from eating their own feces. You can buy it at a pet store.

The reason they do this is because to them it smells like the food they ate. There is a product you can buy at the pet shop for this or you can use meat tenderizer. Sprinkle it on the dogs food.

fret not, he's got a good chance of out growing the problem. its common for puppies to do this. you can scoop the yard as often as possible, or visit your vet for some FORBID, which has a 50/50 chance of working.
