i think you are absolutely wonderful. my daughter is nine now and i only recently got cable and this puter. my daughter is so creative and smart. she reads excellently, read a clock at age 5, knows some french and spanish, crafty in things like beeds, paper stuffs, painting, etc. she's active as all hell and just got a trophy for soccer. i would love to get her into gymnastics but theres nothing in our area. not that it bothers her, she just does her own. lol. she's very vocal and knows what she's talking about. the only movies we really had before cable were learning videos and the learning games that the kids can play on tv. like counting games with winnie the pooh. he he. she loved those games.
just because you don't have the spoils doesn't mean your not spoiling them (in a good way). all the things i got to teach my daughter? all that time they get to use their brains instead of sitting in front of the tv spacing out? i guess you know what my choice is. lol.
your friend just doesn't see what you DO have. you see it though and that's what matters most. good luck and keep smiling.

I don't see the problem, you're a lot smarter than most people, who try to live outside their means and then go on welfare or other government assistance because they're to cheap to give up their cable or phone to make ends meet. There are people who CAN afford it who chose NOT to have cable because they think their children are just better off without it. As for the phone, you might want to rethink that, it would be cheaper for you to have a basic land line and then get rid of the cell phone. But that's your choice. Live how you think is necessary and don't let others tell you you NEED things like cable, when there ARE bills to pay and mouths to feed!

Here in Western Canada, we call it "peasantvision", it makes it sound better! We have been in the same situation, and have just gotten cable for six months, because they had a good deal, but will go back to rabbit ears. The internet is expensive here, though, so maybe look into not having that. I'm also not sure if having a cell is cheaper than a home phone... Do what you have to do, and all will work well....

No, it is just fine to live that way. Lots of responsible parents don't even let their children watch cable because of all the things on TV nowadays, so they are not deprived at all.
And it is great that you want to be able to pay for the necessities first and at least have some money saved up for those little (or big) things that pop up all the time that you have to throw your savings into. And don't worry, you are showing your daughters how to be very responsible by putting off those things that you would enjoy in order to make your family better off.

No it is perfectly fine. We havent had cable in my house since I was in the 6th grade and now im 19 years old. Why would someone want to pay all that money when theres never that much on anyway and always reruns. I happy with a the basic channels...WB, ABC, and FOX...all my favorite shows come on those channels. Also the cell pone is great...you have a phone when at home and when away...also free long distance..lol.

You are right, you don't need cable, no one does. There isn't a decent thing on all those channels worth watching anyway. Spend the time with your babies and love on them and teach them the right way to do things and how to be good and respect themselves and others.
If you are providing the necessities for yourself and your children that is all that matters. If you save what you can then in time maybe you can have a better life in the future for yourself and the children, but even so, if you are happy, that is what counts.
Thank God for what you have, He said He will provide us with what we need, not necessarily what we want. It sounds like you have what you need and are happy with that. That's a good thing.
Good luck and may God bless you even more bountifully.

I think you are smart. So many people live beyond their means, and that is when real trouble starts. Not having cable is really no big deal if you don't miss it. And, I am sure as your situation improves financially you will add some of the luxuries you deserve.

You're doing whats best. Whats more important the electric or cable. tell your friend that she can pay for the cable if she thinks you need it so bad. it sounds like you are doing whats right for you and your girls. besides with out t.v. yall have more time to spend as a family.

YOU'RE DOING GREAT!! money is tight, and if you don't need something, you don't get it. pat yourself on the back for feeding your babies and taking good care of them, honey! if your friend has a problem with it, then she isn't a great friend. as long as you are doing right by your daughters, then you are doing the right thing. never doubt it for a minute.
