The "rules" say that women should wait for men to call, and to avoid answering most of the time. And they further state that we should limit the conversation to 10 minutes or less if we do answer the phone. What do you fellas think?

I make them chase me. If you chase someone they run. If you act mildly interest they will call. Cut first call short. Say you have to go your bathwater is getting cold, but that you were glad he called. Keep him interested, but let him chase.

These "rules" sound like they were made by sexist male chauvinists bent on keeping women in their place. While I will agree that it often works well when the man takes the first step, it would be crazy to limit women like that.
Do women sound desparate when they call? ABSOLUTELY NOT. While it does say something about the guy if he doesn't want to call, it says nothing bad about the girl if she calls. A relationship has to have communication in order to survive, and if the man doesn't do it, it is perfectly justifiable that the woman do what she must.
So, it is in my professional opinion that you take those rules and grind them beneath your cell phone. Call away!

Definitely not. You do not look desperate at all. Those rules will probably frustrate both of you more than help. Those rules are a little dated, and you shouldn't be confined to such restrictive ideas. Live life and don't worry about what other people might think. If he likes you and respects you - it wont matter, and if not, you can do better. Take it from a guy. :)

FORGET THE RULES MAN!!! but yes most of the time if there more than just a friend or act a little wired around you, yes there probably desperate to call u 24 7

well, it may depend on how much you know the guy. A guy can be forgiving too. They doesn't mind being called up, unless if it happens every 20 minutes all coming from one girl. One simple call won't hurt, and it won't make you desperate.

love and affection knows know rules---when are people going to realize--that--- if a girl calls you its because she finds you attractive enough to date and want to get to know you---
i guess if you were living in the world of leave it to beaver-- i guess you should wait and ask the girl---but if you like her and like the fact she has created the courage of asking you first--then give her the chance--never know---she might be your soulmate for life
