it would most likely create a methane cloud so large that the global warming would increase so much the polar ice caps would most likely melt within a fey years but not completely b/4 the sea would fill with fresh water changing the flow and ebb of the tides creating massive violent storms across the world and sending the sea raising to as high as Colorado, the suns rays would also be reflected twice as much and the methane would trap other particles with it creating a looming cloud that would kill all vegetation off. Eventually it would be the end of the world as we know it, but I think with our technology there would be a small amount of survivors, maybe ten million or less out of the 6.5 billion that are currently on earth.

I'm imagining the casting for the feature film after it happened--Jim Carrey, Adam Sandler, Larry the Cable Guy--if Oliver Stone directed, it could be a right wing conspiracy -- to improve the air in Washington!
If you like this kind of humor, go to google videos and search on farting preacher. Someone has edited an Evangelist--it's too funny!

Based on the cubic miles of air... and the consentration of farts... just about everyone who didn't strike a match... would survive.

The planet would get blown off course and spiral right into the sun.
Seriously, nothing would really happen.

I doubt most would even notice. However, I would hate to be stuck in a crowded room or sporting event when it happened. :)
