Acne and Adolescent Years

Acne is caused mainly by the hormonal activity that creates more sebum. This sebum fills in the sebaceous glands that are also blocked at the same time. With bacteria flourishing inside, the inflammation begins and you get acne. If left unchecked, this can become a cyst and cause a scar for life. Acne during the young age also affects the confidence of the sufferer.

There is nothing you can do to stop the hormonal activity. It is part of the aging process. What you can do is, care for your skin and treat acne as soon as it begins forming so that it does not get infected more and cause bigger unsightly lesions and scars.

Naturally oily skin...and worry or nervousness.
Never found anything that helped get rid of it except....
I had really bad acne when I still lived at home with my parents and all the problems we had.
The day after I moved out on my own, my acne magically disappeared and has never come back!

It is the reaction to the body's changing of hormones... from childhood body chemistry into adult body chemistry. The only thing that will really help thru this time is Pro-Active... you need to get this and use it until your body levels out... which may take a couple of years. Acne if not treated properly will leave lifetime scars on the skin... So it is important to take this condition seriously... and treat it. Good Luck!

teens get acne because hormones are nuts and are running like crazy and just cause a commotion for your skin..

how bad is your acne? i fyou have a few pimples on your face, refrain from using pro activ or any other crap that may dry your face out (stay clear of clean & clear) and dont settle for a peeling face just to have no acne.

just cleanse your face every day and if it happens it happens. we all go through it. trust me, i have DRIED skin from trying to get rid of my 'acne' (like two pimples) and i regret doing it.. and i miss my moisture-filled face.

Use proactive - it's the only thing that works for me.
In response to another response I saw - sex does nothing to prevent acne. Happily (if you know what I mean) married for 6 years and I still need the proactive.

It's a universal problem not just for teens. You can cure it by using a facial cream for the face ohhh and no poking, peeling or squeezing anything it could stay on for life.

Clogged pores in the face, with dead neutrophils, etc...
Teenagers sweat more, and have differences in hormones.
You can go to the dermatologist and get antibiotics, creams, lasers therapy, etc.....
Those will all help keep the face clear.
Also, females can use birth control pills to help keep their faces clearer.
There are many options.
Ask your physician which one works best for you.

Use proactive. I've used it before and it does its job. Don't be self-conscious about it either. And also stay away from sodas. Drink plenty of water. There are different reasons y teens get it. Mainly hormones and it could be stress too.
