I have been engaged since about May this year. Is it too late to have an engagement party? Do you have to have one? I would like to have a small party to celebrate but my fiance isn't acting very motivated about it and I don't have any really close friends and practically no family but he has a big family and lots of friends. . . Should I just not worry about it?

I didn't bother. You get a bachelorette/bridal shower, and a wedding. That is party enough for me, especially with all the planning that goes into the wedding!

Have you set the date for your wedding yet? If you have, don't bother with the engagement party. Usually, it's the family that throws the engagement party. If you have set the date for the wedding, start planning like crazy and put your energy into your wedding instead of worrying about the engagement party. You will have plenty attention during your showers and bachelorette parties!

I don't see why you would want one. It isn't necessary and is more for when there are a bunch of people who want to celebrate the engagement. Most engagement parties are nothing more than family dinners. I would say skip it (you shouldn't be throwing it anyways) and plan on having a bridal shower.

Good Luck!

I didn't have an engagment party. I don't know too many people who have had one. He isn't interested in having one and he would just make it a miserable experience. Just have your bridal showers and your wedding and make those the big deals. Those are the most important parties anyhow.

Don't worry about it. You can have a nice bridal shower as the date approaches. If you would like to through a party, through it in celebration of life or something.
