I was blessed enough to have it both ways. I really wanted to get married before our baby was born, so we did, with like three weeks to spare. I wore a nice dress I had, my mom and his dad and stepmom were there, along with friends and siblings. I think there were about fifteen people there in all. We all went back to my in-laws house for dinner and a small cake afterwards. It was very sweet and intimate.
In September of that year we pulled off the whole she-bang. I wore a white dress, there were three bridesmaids and groomsmen, a jr. bridesmaid, a flower girl and ring bearer, and my baby sister even pulled our daughter down the aisle in a wagon. We had a wonderful time sharing our day with his mom and stepdad, and my dad and stepmom, all who could not come to our first wedding. Plus we had all our friends and family around. It was such a wonderful experience. I LOVED my big wedding.

I actually wanted to go to Vermont, take out a license and find a J.P. and elope but my husband being an only child (i'm not) and coming from another country wanted a nice wedding as an event his family could remember. I certainly understood his reasoning and had the big wedding (both our extended families are large). I don't regret doing it but I'd not do it again.

It's easy to get married, and hard to get divorced. I have never really wanted a wedding. I'm not religious and most of the whole wedding thing has to do with God. BUT...if I were to get married, I'd have an outdoor "hippie" wedding.

I would have liked to just go up on a mountain top and exchange vows between the two of us , then register it to make it official, but both our families would have died. So we had a huge wedding, which was a lot of fun, but I still would have liked a private one on the mountain.

There's nothing simple about marriage, but yes, I think a little private handfasting ceremony down by the water. No big to-do.

It is good to have a wedding. Others need to see and celebrate what happened.

I recently got married... my wife and I knew people who spent lots of money on weddings and decided to spend ours on ourselves... sounds selfish, but i recommend it to everyone... we went to Jamaica and stayed at Sandals Montego Bay.. its an ultra all inclusive resort, drinks, food, and fun. They call it weddingmoons... it was great
