You are SUCH a BAD dog owner! No, I'm just kidding... Can you play a game of tug of war with her instead? My friend's pit loves that game more than anything! If you don't have a rope toy, use an old sock, but tie a knot in it so it's a bit less sock-looking. My friend's dog knows that socks with knots are hers and socks without knots are off limits. :) Of course, socks don't last long in a game of tug of war so don't expect it to be wearable after you get done! Lol!

You know, I don't know how much more of you she can take. Remember me? I answered your question about the use of her photo on here without her permission.

Head butting the legs are a sign of real anger toward a human staffer. (that's how Joseph refers to us, his human staffers)
Big sighs are worse than any bark or howl.

At this point I don't think it would matter if a monsoon was outside. If I were you, I think I would grab that leash and walk very fast. That might redeem you, but I am not sure now. It might be too late. You let her stomp up and down the hallway and didn't do anything about it to settle her? A broken promise of a walk would have been better than nothing..........

AFTER you return from your walk, rain or no rain, you had better get your book out on human staffer points and do some brush up reading. Or else you are going to go to the kitchen one morning and find a good bye note in her empty food bowl.......You can't say I haven't warned you!!

Sounds to me like she's nervous over the storm. Dogs are very aware of weather changes. Especially if you haven't heard thunder yet. Pay attention to her. She's trying to tell you something. It has nothing to do with the lack of a walk. She's nervous. Don't baby her as it will only make it worse. Just tell her to lay down. Be firm but not mean. If you baby her when she's afraid you will only be giving her signals that it's O.K. to have this phobia. Having said that I also suggest you keep an eye on the weather channel. My dog woke me up right before we were hit by a tornado in 1998.

If she had been kennel trained you could just put her in it and she would calm down. If she is not all you can do is take her out, just don't go far! The front yard on a long leash is enough, she probably just has to do her business. Keep in mind that thunderstorms may make them act weird with the electricity in the air.....that may be what is bothering her. Something calming might help, lavendar, chamomile........rough housing a little in the house.......she has to get out her energy and would probably be happy with a few minutes of play.

Is there a thunderstorm occuring now where you are? If not, take her on a quick walk.

You could try walking her around the house on a leash -- don't know if she'll be fooled by that.

She probably has some excess energy so give her a way to burn that up.

Wait till the storms are done. Then grab the leash and hike your a*s.. Don't forget to take the dog. About 2 hours walking the streets ought to do it.

She COULD be afraid of the storm, or she COULD be mad because you didn't walk her.
Either way, it could be a very good to distract her with a game. It'll show here there's nothing to worry about with the storm, and it will help wear off the energy she would have worn off walking.

Could you play fetch in the backyard or even up and down the hallway, until the storm passes?

Get a ball and play with her in the house....she is looking for the "together" time....not necessarily the walk. So, groom her, play ball with her in the yard where you can get in quickly if you need to, or just sit and pet her. Dogs need that reassurance.

She will get over it, give her some attention and then give her a treat or two and take her early in the morning if possible.
