I was thinking about using them, but my friend had a tooth ache for about three days. Anyone else have this problem? I'm currently using the Crest Night Effects and it's alright but I think I'd get better results with the strips...

i used them and i had no pain at all. the dentist said my gums might become sensitive or sore but they didn't. i think soreness and sensitivity is just a side effect. i only put the strips on 1 a day for an hour though. they do help whiten your teeth though despite what another answerer said earlier.

In my personal experience, I have found that Crest White Strips- the 14 day treatment- was very effective in whitening by teeth. I am sure your friend didn't experience a true 'toothache'. What she experienced was probably more sensitivity from the bleaching chemicals.

Here is a bit of an anatomy lesson for you. Your enamel is the harder, outer, later of your teeth. Under the enamel is a layer called Dentin. It is believed that the dentin contains tubules (straw like structures) that can (especially if the enamel is thin) link the pulp chamber (where the nerves and blood supplies are located in the tooth) to the exterior surface of the enamel. Once the bleaching chemical has been applied to teeth, it can thin the enamel just slightly enough (not enough to harm you of course) so that those tubules can transmit impulses from hot, cold, or air; thus making your teeth a little extra sensitive.

I would recommend that you buy an over-the- counter home fluoride rinse (such as ACT) in order to strengthen your enamel for two weeks prior to treatment & continuing until finished. Therefore your strong enamel will have a greatly reduced chance of experiencing any sensitivity. Just follow the directions.

Good luck & let me know how it works : )

Whitening does leave your teeth a bit sensitive. Use a good toothpaste specifically for sensitivity. It should help. I had my teeth whitened about 3 years ago or so, maybe longer. It was the old way, with the molds, and trays....etc. But man, let me tell you, they have stayed white. I do touch ups with the Crest White-strips still. The premium ones. Don't be afraid of the sensitivity....they make stuff to handle that. Since I've whitened.....let me tell you, I can't help but notice all the yellow teeth out there. Keep the white smile up. It's worth it.

the crest strips did a bad *** job on my teeth. I was told that I should do a toothpast commercial. I only did them once a day, not twice a day like the box said. My teeth didn't get that sensitive either. When they did I stopped using them for a day or two. Helps this helps you out so much. you should get the premium they work better

I have tried both the 7 day strips and the ones that take longer ( I forget how long). I saw dramatic improvement in the whiteness of my teeth with the longer ones. My teeth were sensitive to cold foods, but it got better after a week or so into it. The 7 day ones I couldn't even finish because my teeth were so sensitive.

After using strips for the first time (i had used paint on gels before with no prob), i had HUGE pain around one of my front bottom teeth. My dentist told me that the strip whiteners are more likely to cause sensitivity, and even though it hurt really bad, it was harmless. I stopped using the strips and the pain was present very mildly for about a month. I used gel whitener after that no prob.

a 99 cent bottle of hydrogen peroxide. dose the same thing, that is what the ingredient is, just brush your teeth with a whitening toothpaste, and then swish the peroxide in your mouth, I hold it in for about 30 seconds, thats all you have to do, and no they won't turn your teeth too white. I asked my dentist if he would whiten my teeth and he said no, just use the strips, but the peroxide is way cheaper. good luck

I have had great luck with them. They work very well but whe I was using them daily 2x a day my teeth got a little sensitive but that was only temporary. Now I wuse them 1x a day a few times a week and they work great. I asked my dentist a/b them today actually and she said that they are perfectly safe-just don't overuse them to avoid sensitivity.

Stay away from the professional teeth whitening procedures and from the whitening at home kits. They are using extremely toxic chemicals that can cause IRREVERSIBLE DAMAGE TO TOOTH ENAMEL and premature tooth decay.

Check out this site: http://www.naturalwhiteteeth.net - It's about how you can whiten your teeth 100% naturally. Same results but 100% safe and 1000 times cheaper.

Everyone reacts differently to whitening. I know patients who use the Premium strength twice a day(which you can only buy through your dentist) and they have no sensitivity, while others (including myself) who, whenever they bleach, have pain. I say, ask your dental provider what they recommend and see if they have any samples. Good luck
