Putting lyrics on your ipod?

I have the regular ipod and i wanted to put lyrics on it so i went on itunes and went to "get info" .then i clicked on the lyrics bar and added the lyrics ,but it wont show up on my ipod .i don't know why it wont show up.So does anybody know what i can do so the lyrics would show up on my ipod?

i honestly have never heard of this function. do you know for sure that it can be done?
